This is one of those weeks when there’s probably more pics than words….maybe too many pics…but is there really such a thing??
FIRST….pics from last week playing with cousins!! Bean LOVES getting pushed by Dade….not so much by Ella!! LOL
Monday – Gorgeous outside! Sent Dade out with the girls for a bit…..
So the following are courtesy of Dade & his Camera!!
Sylvie is in a stage where she changes her clothes SEVERAL times a day and it’s often into a dress. This particular one she wore with bunny rabbit stockings (or “Snockings” as she calls them!). She kept saying she looked like a baby doll!
Wed – Ryan got called in for Jury Duty!!
He didn’t make the first round of cuts but they let him have a 3 hour break before he had to come back for the next round. SO, we met him downtown and went to the Natural Science Museum! YEAH! Of course, I didn’t know that was what we were going to do so my cell phone camera had to do….
Ella LOVED the dinosaurs….Sylvie, on the other hand simply SCREAMED every time we turned a corner.
We went into the butterfly room where not only was Sylvie dressed just like the lady running the place (pink shirt, blue jeans, and green shoes) but there was another little girl in there with the exact same pair of tie dyed socks….weird. THEN a Butterfly came and landed right on Ella’s HEAD!! So cool.
Afterwards the girls got new necklaces and we dropped Daddy back off at the court house. Lucky for him he was the 2nd to last person to be cut….he’d already been sitting up in the juror’s box! It was nice to have him home earlier than he would have if he’d been at work!!
Wednesday night was my Photography Class. Here’s Tara!!
When I got home from class, Ryan had the Telescope out! The moon was SO SO bright that you couldn’t see much other THAN the moon so that’s what we looked at. In fact, I ran in and got Dade’s camera and we took a few pics through the lens. We had to zoom way out to fit the whole moon in the pic (I can zoom in REALLY close) and the picture is upside down because that’s what telescopes do but anyway, enjoy!! (I’ll leave this one unlocked so you can click on it to see it at full size.)
Think that’s cool? Check out Mars!…okay, it’s fuzzy but what do you expect on a super bright night with a dinky camera held up to an eye piece and a planet moving a million miles an hour….
Thursday was even MORE GORGEOUS outside and so my Sis and her kids came and played with us at a nearby playground. As you can see, my girls have NO FEAR. At one point a boy (about 5?) came up and told Sylvie to get out of the way. He called her a baby and told her she was too small to be on there. I laughed and told him he’d have to wait until the “baby” climbed up herself. I let him know that just because she was little and a girl would never mean she couldn’t do something. He stood back with amazement as she climbed and then ran off. Silly boys.

I ALMOST hung upside down and did a cherry drop off this thing….(see pic below) then I realized that all the chub I’ve accumulated over the years that I was hoping would pad my attempt….is in all the wrong places. I climbed back down only slightly bruised. LOL Later, however, backing up to push Sylvie in the swing, I missed the fact there was a big hill behind me and I fell flat on my back with my feet going over my head. No one was watching….I even yelled to Tammy to look as I was falling back….yet nothing. OH well.
Friday was prep day for the “Big Storm”. As you can see the living room is TRASHED. That’s what happens when mommy is busy working on pictures….Ella had a fun lunch for her animals. This was the first time she’s done this. She’s really starting to come out of her shell and talk and do a lot more. It’s fun to see.
We stayed up late watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and waiting for the snow.
Saturday morning we woke up (way to early thanks to cheering children) to Snow on the ground and Sleet falling from the sky. Actually it started Friday night with just snow but my midnight I could hear the sleet coming down. YUCK.
Corben and I headed out to look for animal tracks. We’ve been wanting to know what’s living in the den in the back yard. I think rabbits, Corben thinks Fox. So we’re waiting to see what kind of track show up in the snow!!
Sylvie lasted about 20 minutes before she came in crying….her hands were frozen!
As you can see, all my picture were THROUGH the house windows….I ALMOST succeeded in staying inside all day. Corben convinced me otherwise. ANYWAY….at one point I was looking outside and spotted THIS creature!! You may not know this, or maybe you do, but I TOTALLY believe in Bigfoot. I believe this is one of his rural neighborhood cousins……
I soon heard a knock on my window and was lucky to catch this QUICK glimpse before the creature took off again, running.
This is the creature enjoying
his handy little rice packs
that I had micro waved and
we stuck in his pockets. He
thought it was the greatest
idea!
Ella played outside for way over an hour with Dad. She finally made her way in soaking wet and sobbing. Doesn’t it always end that way? I was shocked at how long she’d lasted, though. She is so resilient!
Here’s Corben’s Epic Battle with the neighbor…..
Corben finally made his way in after 5pm!! He had SO much fun outside. The neighbors even let him snow surf!! (And I’d been worried he’d be so disappointed today about them postponing the Pinewood Derby!!)
And no winter day would be final in our house without the traditional Snow Slushies!!
For Snow Slushies you will need:
A bowl full of Snow….(clean)
….slushie flavoring…
First, scoop snow into your cup….
Add favorite flavoring….
Stir….
Eat….
Be prepared for the inevitable BRAIN FREEZE!
Otherwise, ENJOY!!
So now, I’m trying to go to bed and finish this blog so I can just type up tomorrow and hit POST when Ryan emails me from UPSTAIRS with THIS!!
The Munchkin King on his throne?? I’m so grossed out…..LOL
Sun - No church today – Does that means sleeping in?? Maybe?? NNNOOOOOO!!!! Not with the bright sunlight reflecting off of the white snow up into children’s bedrooms. The house was the brightest this morning it’s ever been. It was beautiful. Why is it that on beautiful days when there’s nothing planned that I suddenly get a bug to clean?? On the Sabbath?? No Way! SO…..I had to bake!!
First, Monkey Bread….
Then, Hard Boiled Eggs just for Corben….(my first time)
Now, the rest of the day is left to a fire in the fireplace, family time, and scripture study. I love a quiet Sunday! (Oh, and animal prints in the yard say that it’s Rabbits living in the den out back!….or squirrels or raccoons….according to Corben. LOL)
The End.
