What-ever-this-week-is "in review"

Okay so since we've gotten back from our trip I just haven't gotten back into the swing of things. Let me try to fill you in on our life since California....

Laundry, dirty dishes, cleaning, changing diapers, chasing children, and not getting to any of it because my mom is upset that I didn't blog this week. :P Okay, there is more we've done....

For Family Home Evening last week we spent the evening at the park (I think we were all missing the sandy beaches). Our fearless Ella headed to the slides and had a blast. Interestingly enough, our little Sylvie LOVES the swings but they scare Ella to death!! So Ryan put them in a swing together and they both did fine.

Later in the week I spent a beautiful day with my sister-in-law Heather helping her out on Heritage Makers. We spent some time outside with the kids until Ella started having some asthma troubles. After they left I had to take her to the doctors and bring home a nebulizer for a couple of days. She has the fever/cold that's going around. Sylvie caught it on Sunday but is feeling much better.

Ryan and the boys did get to go the the races in Virginia on Saturday night. They had a great time. I was home with sick little girls.

Ryan has taken on the huge project of repainting the house. He started yesterday by powerwashing the house.....

Things powerwashing DOES remove:
  1. Dirt from the house and the front bricks - how pretty
  2. Whatever made our sidewalk a dark gray all these years (who knew?)
  3. PAINT
  4. WINDOWSILLS.........hmmm
Things powerwashing DOES NOT remove:
  1. Acrylic paint left from painting the porch alien
  2. Egg left from the Halloween egging 4 years ago (Bachelor Ryan didn't know that it's not okay to leave your porch light on and not leave candy.)

Ryan's also been working in our garden this week (I don't have a green thumb - my fake plants have leaves on the floor...seriously, they do....). It's so beautiful and we're already getting radishes, and the tomatoes and squash are almost ready! YEAH!! This year he's planted
  1. tomatoes (different kinds)
  2. pumpkins (the mega super big ones)
  3. corn
  4. beans
  5. peppers (green and several hot varieties)
  6. squash
  7. cucumbers
  8. zucchini
  9. basil, oregano, parsley
  10. radishes
  11. carrots
  12. onions
  13. sunflowers
  14. wild flowers

I also had a sweet moment with Ella this week. It was getting towards dark and she started pointing out the window. There in the front yard just feet from us were our rabbits sitting in a patch of clover eating flowers. We sat there for several minutes and watched them. Then Ryan took her outside to get a closer look. They got pretty close before the rabbits flipped up their white cotton tails and took off. I love our yard!

Okay, so that's it....until next time!

6-25-2006 Week in Review–Meet Ella!!!

We’ve had a BABY!!!

Welcome Ella Margaret! (Middle name for my Grandmother)  Born 6-22!

Due to the fact that little Ella wanted to flip over CONSTANTLY (3 or 4 times actually) and I didn’t want to have any more inversions, I was induced and had Miss Ella 3 days AFTER her due date.  They wanted to make sure she came out head first!  I was blessed to have had the easiest labor EVER and her doctor (a member of our church) almost didn’t catch her she came so fast (his shoes are now ruined).  She had the cord around her neck and so they rushed her off for a few minutes until her breathing was good but she’s doing GREAT! and we’re so happy to now be a family of 5!

The next picture is GROSS…but Ryan was SO impressed with her first diaper he insisted a picture must be taken.  I was just glad he was changing them since he’d SWORN he would NEVER change one!
