Monday started off what was to be the coldest week EVER! And of course, it starts out EXTRA early for poor Dade who must be at the bus stop at 6:15am….in 22 degree weather….just to have the bus be 45 minutes Late!! Okay, so I was a little grumpy about that but felt a bit better because, for once, Dade wore a “coat” (light jacket) and jeans to school.
Tuesday came and as I peaked out the window to see Dade headed the quarter mile to the bus stop I noted he was wearing (against my request) SHORTS!!….it’s 19 degrees outside!! (He claims it’s only cold if the wind blows…..) However, 50 minutes later he’s back at the house and says the bus never came!! Are they trying to kill my kid?? Seriously, who leaves kids out in the FREEZING cold for that long? So, I get everyone ready and we take Dade to school only for them to tell me the bus was only a little late….it simply skipped Dade’s stop….drove right past him, actually!! Grumble grumble. Can I mention here that Transportation doesn’t like me because I actually complain when they do things like this to children….I think they have my number blocked…. Anyway, so Dade then mentions that his hands/fingers have been numb for over an hour. He claims it started about 30 minutes after he came in from the bus stop. He’s been telling me that his toes have randomly been going numb over the past few months so I decided to call the doc & they wanted me to rush him in….I wasn’t feeling the urgency but I went and got him from school & took him anyway. And….as usual with my family….they think it’s some weird syndrome….Raynaud’s Syndrome/Disease actually. Doc said it was harmless and that it just meant your fingers/toes change color easy or may go numb sometimes…..online says it’s a circulation problem that heightens your chances of frostbite and such and is brought on in times of stress or cold. It even has it’s own .org! So….it’s gloves and warm socks for this kid! Best part was, when Transportation called me back I got to tell them (in all honesty) that them leaving my son in the cold was dangerous for his health. They claimed it was a new driver and that she just got things mixed up. They assured me they would speak with her and it wouldn’t happen again….here’s hoping!
We may have had another medical breakthrough on Tuesday. I got an email from my PEAs (Picky eating Adult) message board about a new program going on at Duke! Click here It’s apparently the first of it’s kind and everyone is really excited. I’m kind of the pushy type when I want something and of the 20 or so people that called to get in, I was the only one to finally get to talk to a doctor. They want to see both Dade and I as soon as possible. Unfortunately….despite the fact that we were both born with this and it effects our lives so completely, there is no official medical code for it so insurance refuses to cover it…grumble grumble!!!! They claim they cover eating disorders but not mine. What ever….I’ll keep trying to find a way to at least get Dade in….I’d like him to get some help before I send him off on a mission for two years and he either starves to death or insults every family that has him over….or both.
Wednesday everyone was home from school with tummy aches….oh, and Corben’s Triops finally hatched….they are cool….and tiny…..VERY tiny….can only see them with a magnifying glass kind of tiny….but they all have names and Corben can tell them apart. He’s such a good owner. :)
Corben’s Triops do not look quite like this yet though a few of them are a teeny teeny teeny teeny teeny teeny teeny tiny version….they supposedly get to 3 inches….but we’ll see….the tanks only 6 inches…..
Thursday the girls woke to find new balloons from Corben. They were very happy.
Now that I think about it…maybe this was the day the boys stayed home…I can’t remember….probably though since I let them go to Scouts on Wednesday….yep, must have been today. Anyway….
Thursday was also big for other reasons. Ever have one of those moments when you KNOW that God is watching out for you and knows your heart and Loves you? I got a special hug from Him today. Too amazing to just chat about online, but a real miracle that really and truly changed me… Even when life is hard….Life is Good!
Friday morning school was delayed 2 hours and Dade’s bus was actually on time. YEAH! Friday, my mom came and got Corben for a weekend trip up to see my Grandparents. Friday stunk for me because I had another Gallbladder attack….if it’s the Peanut Butter I ate for lunch I’m in serious trouble…that’s all I have to say. This one was particularly bad….maybe time to see a doctor…anyone know one that works for FREE??? :)
Saturday started at 9am in 25 degree temperatures and me taking pictures for a family of 10! Ryan headed out early as well to sell our 6th car….he finally flipped a car (instead of adding it to our collection) & made us some good cash! Thanks, Honey! Dade had a basketball game (he plays on our church youth league) in which he scored a 3 pointer that, as he put it, swooshed through the hoop perfectly. They lost horribly but Dade was proud of himself and had a lot of fun. He went straight from there to play a game of Airsoft with the guys (and now he’s addicted….) and then to dinner with friends and a sleep over. Corben spent the day with my mom and Gma at a Ice Exhibit! (These pics are from Mom’s phone). He had so much fun, especially sliding down the ice slides.
Sunday morning always starts way too early for me but we made it to church early anyway. Dade had his first week of helping to prepare the sacrament. Ryan taught again and my music went well. Ella was a bit nervous about going to Primary again and kept dragging her feet and saying, “I no want to go to Primary! I not big, I little!” It only took her a few minutes, however, and sitting on someone’s lap to get in the swing of things and she did fine. I’m very proud of her.
THEN….Sylvie decided she wanted to have a big day, too. She decided today to start using the potty all day and she managed to do it perfectly and stayed dry!! YEAH!!! I’m that much closer to NO DIAPERS!! (Corben will be especially happy as he’s the official Diaper Taker Outer!)
Corben spent the day with my grandparents. He visited my Grandpa in the nursing home for several hours. Corben was excited because Gpa shook his hand good and strong. I love that my kids know my family and love them so much. I have good kids. I really really do.
The End.

Thanks for keeping this up Christy. Even though I getup there once a week, I feel like this fills in the gaps.
