WE DID IT!! We made it outside every single day in April for at least 30 minutes!! I’m so proud of us… My intention was to throw a big yard party for the girls today but we were suddenly invited to go to an Arts Festival and decided that sounded like fun, too!!
We saw a magic show, played on a huge playground, dug in the dirt, made recycled bugs, got our faces painted, and watched a drum-playing statue!
THEN, I got to spend some extra time outside while my kids played with friends…what was I doing?? What I love!!
A Mom’s Thoughts on 30 Days outside…
I knew that this challenge was going to be good to us but I had no idea how good! This month we spent at least 120 hours outside PER CHILD. My husband got excited about all their play time outside and fixed up our yard. He built them a new swing set and cleared a large part of our yard we hadn’t ever used and found our Fairy Tree! I took the girls on walks through the woods near our home. In 7 years I'd never gone but a few feet into those woods…what a magical place I was missing! We had so much fun having friends over each week and I loved all the mommy time! AND we got the garden in! I’m realistic when I acknowledge that we may not get outside every day from now on. The challenge definitely pushed me to find things to do outside but as the weather gets hotter and buggier I suspect we may opt to stay indoors some days. However, I do believe that we are changed forever. I’m sure that we will be spending MUCH more time out of doors in the coming months and years and I owe it all to this fun challenge! So, our 30 days are up and, though I won’t be blogging about it everyday, I hope we’ll see you outside tomorrow!! YEAH!!!
