4-3-2011 Week in Review…

Monday was errand day and PTSA (parent teacher student assoc.).  Nothing exciting except that I had a crazy dream last night that we were late for the school tour of Corben’s new Middle School.  It was Dade I had with me though and when we got there everyone was swimming in a big pool that had a shallow end with sea creatures and plants.  Out in the hallway was a toad tank with two toads in it.  One was Corben.  He was talking to a much larger toad that was some other kid visiting the school and they were telling each other about their pets.  The other toad apparently lost a lizard because it got it’s lips stuck in something.  Anyway, the other kids parents were looking for him and when I showed them that he was a toad with Corben in the tank talking, they thought it was as cute as I did so we hung out for a few minutes and let the boys finish their conversation…  Down the hall was my brother, Adam, who had apparently come with us and was worried that he’d missed the test Germany was giving his Auto Repair business.  They’d already done some areal fly overs (he’d seen the planes) but today they were supposed to have some emergency calls to see if he was as good at getting to things as he said but for some reason he’d turned his phone off while at the school.  He was very worried because having Germany as a customer would be great!  When we left the school, we were in a large park and there was suddenly a flood (like a small tidal wave) and some friends of mine from church barely had any time to get up from their picnics to get out of the way.  We all huddled close in a house that was wrecked that was, apparently, full of items of mine from my childhood which I spent the rest of the dream going through. – I wonder where that stuff is in real life?

Tuesday I headed out early with Corben to tour his new Middle School.  I really have turned into such a sappy mom.  I was already excited at how excited he looked but when we finally walked down to the orchestra wing tears were filling my eyes as I heard the music playing and saw the look on his face!  It was magic.  A 7th grader came out to talk to us and showed us some video of some of the kids playing.  The 7th graders are going to Carnegie Hall in April!  Corben’s eyes were big and he had the biggest grin on his face.  I’m so excited he gets to go to this school!  Afterwards there was a small meeting with the principal and she asked each child to introduce themselves.  Instead of having them stand, though, she walked around to each student and had a little discussion with them and welcomed them to her school.  It was amazing.  Corben’s already started studying a map of the school I made for him and can’t wait for next year!

From the school, I ran home, grabbed the girls, dropped Corben back at school, and headed to the mall to meet some friends.  We spent a large portion of the afternoon playing in the play area.  I did venture into a few stores but the girls were FAR from angels (mostly Sylvie) so we quit.  At one point, in the play area, Sylvie was on top of the slide yelling at me that she wasn’t going to be my daughter anymore and that she was going to find a different mommy.  I informed her that we’d miss her but that I knew Ella would enjoy playing with her toys and that I hoped her new mommy was nice and didn’t make her sleep outside under a car.  She still kept ranting but it changed a bit after that…she was going to find a new mommy but she wasn’t because she was going to stay at our house but she still wasn’t going to be my daughter…I think she was confused with how to hold onto her statement and her toys and bed. lol

My Visiting Teachers stopped by in the evening for a wonderful hour of adult conversation!  I LOVE them.  They really make me feel so at ease and we laugh and laugh.  It was great.

That night I had a dream about running away from something (or someone?) horribly dangerous (a tsunami?) and I had someone with me and I was telling them that we had to get away…far away to be safe.  We were running through woods most of the time, had a stolen jeep for a bit and hid in a cave.  Our lives were in danger. – Not sure why I keep dreaming about caves and water…

Wednesday the girls new rain boots came in the mail just in time!  I hit Goodwill in the morning for a raincoat for Ella and as soon as I got home they were out the door!  Now I just need some rain gear for my camera…though SaranWrap worked pretty good!

Thursday was a trip “up North” to hang with my SILs for a bit.  Ella got her hair cut and we just all had a nice time chatting.  I love this family I married into!

Corben is very excited because a business man came by the house today and bought 4 of his Beyblades he has for sale and told Corben that if his son liked them he’d be back for the rest.  Corben’s selling his unused toys to make enough money to purchase an older DS.  I’m proud of that kid!

© 2011 Life with the SchnegelkinsNo school today!  YIPPEE!  It’s also April Fool’s day…but I didn’t do anything funny.  I didn’t even try.  I’m so boring.  However, the good news is…my SIL is in labor!  Schnegel-grandbaby 14 is on the way!

Today was also the first day of our Can You Come Out to Play? 30 day challenge!  Click  HERE for more pics from our day outside.  We spent over an hour and a half outside today!

Just got news that I’m an Aunt AGAIN!  3 times in less than a month!  Congratulations, Heather & Eric!!  I can’t wait to meet her!  (Heather really didn’t want to have an April Fool’s baby but when it’s time, it’s time!)

Woke up this morning to THIS!!  Yippee!  Featured on Pioneer Woman again!!

The boys headed out this morning, for another weekend with their dad.  They’re sure loving having him so close!

Today is the first day of General Conference!  Twice a year our church gathers together globally (via internet, satellite, television, in person) to listen to the Prophet, Apostles, and other church leaders speak on topics they feel inspired to talk about.  I LOVE General Conference.  The talks are amazing and inspiring.  They fill our home with the Spirit and bring us closer to our Father in Heaven.  We sit as a family and watch all four sessions.  The kids usually have some activity pages they use to keep them focused and I spend the time taking notes and notes and notes!  Then I spend the next 6 months studying their words until it’s time again for more in October!

All the sessions are recorded and online for you to view, read, or listen to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week…  Click here to view!

© 2011 Life with the SchnegelkinsBetween sessions we headed outside for our 2nd day of the CYCOTP challenge!  See it here.

After 2nd session (and a nap) I took the girls to Walmart.  I forgot there was a little fair going on and the girls were crazy to go SO we walked over and got a funnel cake!  Then we headed back to Walmart where the cashier commented that Ella was the strongest little boy she’d ever seen! LOL  Sylvie quickly corrected the woman and Ella stayed quiet.  I wasn’t sure if she was excited or upset.  On the way home she did ask me why the woman thought she was a boy.  We talked about it how tough she is and things like that.  She told me she was okay with it.  She knows she’s a girl but she says it’s fun to pretend she’s a boy sometimes.

© 2011 Life with the SchnegelkinsToday we watched conference again.  Between sessions Ryan took the girls outside for some fun on the swing.  Our swing is VERY high and they LOVE it!  See pics and more HERE!

Conference is over now and I’m just as excited to go and listen/read again the words that were spoken as I was to hear them the first time.  I think I may again take up the challenge I took up over a year ago to study one address each week until the next conference.  Reading and rereading the words of the Prophet and Apostles entered them so deeply into my heart and brought me so much personal revelation that I can’t imagine not spending the time to do it again.  I hope that you’ll be reading and rereading the words as well.  If you’d like to watch it yourself, please go to this LINK at any time.  I PROMISE that if you listen and pray to know of the truth of these things that the Spirit will tell you in your heart that they are true.  I know it because I have prayed to know if they are true and I received an overwhelming answer of assurance!  God Lives and He Speaks to His children today through living prophets!  Oh, how He loves us!

Now, I’m off to go play with my family and eagerly await the return of my boys from another weekend with their dad.  I hope your Sabbath is as blessed as mine has been!!
