Monday
So my sister called my house this week while I was out and Ella answered the phone. After a great 10 minute conversation, my sister asked if I was home. Ella paused...said no...and then asked, "Aren't YOU my mom?" ----- Buahahahahaha!
(We really do sound a lot alike on the phone! - I've mixed us up...http://schnegelkins.blogspot.com/2008/05/conversation.html)
Tuesday my awesome friend, Tara came to visit. Our visit was much too short.
Thursday I drove Corben to school and saw another early morning rainbow! I just love them!
Ryan got home very late from work on Thursday night/Friday morning as he was first on the scene of a horrible car wreck. Sadly, the driver didn’t make it.
Friday Corben headed to my mom’s. They made homemade caramels!
Succeeded in keeping the overcooked caramel from hardening in the drain!
1st attempt at making caramel candy from Alton Brown's recipe. Uhhh...we missed the soft crack stage by a degree or two.
3rd attempt using a random caramel recipe off the internet.
SUCCESS!!!!
Saturday was full! First it was our church’s semi-annual General Conference. Twice a year we have a world wide meeting where we hear directly from the Prophet and apostles. I purchased some treats for the kids to get if they listed well during the meeting. I was pleasantly surprised to open my skittles and find that they’d already taken out the yucky greens & yellows! (Well, most of them.) You can read how I feel about such things here.
After conference was over we headed out a few minutes late to go to my nephew’s amazing birthday party. I am SO grateful we were late. On our way we passed car wrecks, including one that looked very deadly, that had both happened only moments before. There were plenty of people stopped to help but no emergency vehicles yet. So scary.
My sister-in-law, Jamie, throws an amazing party. Xander wanted a Harry Potter party and he got the best one EVER!!
The Sorting Hat!!
Making our wands (you could have dragon scales, unicorn hair, & phoenix feathers in them).
Then they battled a real knight!
Scavenger hunt with Professor Trelawney…they found brooms, dragon eggs, and got invisibility cloaks!
Potions class!
Cake, treats, & a wand battle!!
and Collin. :P
Corben was able to come to the party but had to leave early with his uncle to go to the Priesthood session. It was a difficult thing to leave such a party but he went and came home with a smile. I am so proud of him!
Sunday was the second day of Conference. Dade was home (Yay!). I was actually having a very rough day but not only was there something for me in the words shared that touched my heart, my brother, Jason, came over to help me feel better. I think he’s pretty amazing. Here was one of the fun quotes from the day…
