Monday I was thankful for friends who watched my kids at the last minute while I went to talk to someone about Heritage Makers. It’s fun to have people as excited about it as I am!
Tuesday morning Dade was sitting at the computer and looked over to see a small critter looking up at him. It quickly screamed and ran back into the pantry….okay, maybe it didn’t scream but we’ve been watching a lot of Cinderella lately and that’s what I imagined it doing…. ANYWAY, mice in the pantry is a NO NO….SO, as soon as Dade got back from school he began the daunting task of pulling EVERYTHING out of the pantry (it wraps around under our stairs) and finding the mouse….or mice as it turned out to be. Lucky for him (and us) the mice had fallen prey to the anti-mice measures we’d left in the back of the pantry and Dade only had to take them outside. We then got to clean out the entire pantry and put everything back. It was like Christmas!! There was all kinds of food I’d forgotten we had! YEAH for “new” food and for clean pantries!!
Wednesday we went with friends to a local Historical Park. The girls got to walk through old houses and see how to churn butter. Ella’s favorite part was working the small cotton gin. She kept running away from me and going back to it! Sylvie just kept picking the daffodils off of the property…

Picking Cotton….

Then it was outside to meet the goats. Ella took right to them. She climbed right up the fence and kept petting them. Sylvie tried to climb too but she climbed up really far from where the goats were and couldn’t get them to come to her.
Then my little adventurers took off across the field to the pond with all the “duckies”, also known as geese. I thought for sure one of them would fall in but they did pretty good.
Afterwards, we headed back inside to play in the kids area. The girls loved dressing up!
Thursday was my niece, “Bean”’s, 4th birthday and what a great time we had! We met at a local lake for cupcakes and playground time. Check out the slightly more than amazing cupcake tree my sister put together! (Yes, she will make one of these for you…for a charge!)
Ella was just as excited about this party as Bean…as you can see. Though, Bean was pretty excited!
I’ve joked several times that Ella throws gang signs when she’s asked to smile…this time, my BIL who is a corrections officer confirmed it!…Better keep her out of the bad neighborhoods!
Ella was so excited about Bean’s gifts….all the girls were!
From there, we went right down the road to Farm Animal Days!! I love FREE events! Here’s the girls with Turkeys……
…Rabbits….
…Baby Chicks…or Baby Turkey’s as Sylvie called them….(This is my little sister, Lianna, helping Ella out!)….
Checking out colts and cattle with Grandpa!!
Ella had troubles not stopping to draw people…but then we got to the pigs! This pic is right before she started climbing INTO the pen with them…..
Sylvie liked to wave at the man in a cow costume and then run away…Ella wouldn’t let go!!
Dancin’ and playin’ on the farm equipment with Aunt Alora and cousins!!
Then back to see the baby chicks again…..(and give their hands a good scrub!)
Then a fun trip with Grandpa pushing the stroller….
On the way home I came upon this School Activity Bus stuck in a 4 foot ditch! The entire baseball team was standing in the grass on the other side. The back wheels were not even touching the ground….I’ve often wondered if anyone’s ever driven into that ditch…It’s really deep!
Friday we got Great News!! I took Ella in for a 9 month follow up on her tube surgery. They said her tubes had fallen out and that she had no build up. Her ear drums are moving just fine and she has perfect hearing!! YEAH!! No ear plugs in the bath tub anymore! We then went home and spent the day with cousins. I just LOVE having them so close!
Saturday we worked really hard together as a family and got most of our garden put in….if we could just figure out which pair of pants Ryan left those other seeds in! Corben even mentioned that he was having FUN WORKING!! Go figure. Afterwards we let the girls go and pick out some flowers for their play house. I want them to have fun with plants without putting the vegetables at risk! They were SO excited….So excited.
Then, much to Ryan’s amusement, I agreed to go exploring with Corben. We have a right-of-way behind our house that Corben’s always been a bit nervous about venturing into. Now, growing up I played in the local right-of-way almost every day so I was up for the adventure!…I was NOT, however, up for climbing the fence!! I need to go on a diet!! (Do not laugh at these pictures…though, technically, that is why Ryan took them and why I am posting them…so just don’t tell me you laughed…)
It was at THIS moment that I realized I was being photographed….(Ryan say’s these are even better when you scroll through them really fast on the camera….) and in my defense it took about the same amount of photos to document Corben going over the fence!
While Corben and I were on our amazing adventure (we found a cool creek, a nature made fort, a cool tree with the inside hollowed out, and deer tracks!), this is what the girls did….
Okay, here I’m going to put a disclaimer….Ryan is taking pictures with a wide angle lens and they are well known for making people look wider than they are….That being said….despite cutting chocolate, peanut butter, fried foods, butter, fat, and everything else yummy in the world out of my diet and exercising several times a week….I still have a long way to go….thus you can see by Ryan’s “funny” face when I asked him to help me back over the fence……
…and my funny face as I yell at him to stop taking pictures and just help me! LOL
Bringing flowers to mommy….

THEN, Saturday night, I had a NIGHTMARE!! I don’t watch scary movies but apparently I don’t need to….my nightmare was actually about TOP CHEF!! You heard me (read me?) right….Top Chef. Now why would that be scary? Well, first of all because it was the Season Finale, they were doing it live in front of the world, and ….. I was a contestant!! ME??? on TOP CHEF??? Buahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! I can’t cook water!! And that’s exactly why it was a nightmare. I was FREAKIN’ out! Plus I was late and couldn’t find a sitter….typical…and I kept trying to figure out HOW IN THE WORLD did I get here?? I kept thinking that I must have never actually won a challenge and must have just coasted by on not being the worst. I also figured that I must have been using Ryan’s recipes and couldn’t figure out how I was here and not him. So now I’m flippin’ out worried that I’m going to make a complete fool of myself on live TV and that they’re going to see that I can’t cook and won’t eat my own food!…..To top it off, I’d lost Ella somewhere in the crowd…oh, and Corben who’d gone off to chase her….I was so relieved to wake up!! I know, I’m weird.
Sunday is a beautiful day. We’re making homemade pizza with Ryan’s famous Pizza Dough, the kids are playing quietly together and I’ve actually managed to finish this blog! Yeah Me!

Mmmm. Pizza with the Edwards'. Do you do pizza every Sunday? Like your family used to do?
I want to see Ryan's Famous Pizza Dough recipe. :) Does he share recipes?? Pretty please!
I personally love all the fence photos (all the other photos, too, for that matter), and think there is nothing wrong with your physique!
We had an absolute BALL at the birthday party and REALLY enjoyed time with the grandchildren. You are right; Ella is a handful but she's an adoreable handful. Thanks for posting the pictures.
