So, I didn’t break my phone for Tantrum Tamers…YEAH…but someone in my family did…SIGH. No one will fess up to it so there’s nothing that can be done but I figure it was one of the girls who played with it. Anyway, they gave me another one and all is well!
I started off this week with another sick child. I had to take Corben to the doctor for shortness of breath and sure enough he needed an inhaler. It’s helping and I’m so glad!
We then suffered a tragedy. Corben’s toad, Spotters, was missing. I checked the tank (pretty thoroughly, I thought) and then we started checking the room…a daunting task in the messy room of a 10 year old who’s afraid that every place he steps may end the life of his little friend. However, following an internal prompting (he later asked me if it was the Spirit that guided him and I believe so) Dade said he felt strongly that Spotters was in the tank still. He was right. It was very difficult to find him but when we did we discovered he had passed away. Corben was pretty shook up by the whole thing and cried most of the night. There is now a penciled in drawing of Spotters next to the drawings of Corben’s deceased Trilobites on his wall. Poor guy.
RIP Spotters
We buried poor Spotters in the backyard before school. Corben is making him a grave marker. We’re not sure why he died but some time ago we noticed that Spotters seemed to have trouble seeing and that Jeremiah was snatching up most of the food. We tried hand feeding Spotters on more than one occasion with some success but I think the poor toad was just sickly.
I thought the rain would cancel my photo shoot for Wednesday (yep, it’s that time of year again) but instead it made for some fun pictures!
I made it home just in time to rush Corben off to scouts while Ryan & Dade headed off the the haunted trails with all of Dade’s friends. It was apparently a fun & scary night!
Thursday the weather was beautiful and the girls spent most of the day outside on the magic deck.
(No caterpillars were hurt in the pictures above…the stuff you see on the castle around the caterpillar that looks like it might be from a wounded caterpillar is actually fingernail polish from a few weeks ago…)
Late that night Corben realized he was out of crickets so I rushed out (grabbing my favorite neighbor on the way for girl time) to get some before the store closed. While there I decided to pick up a little friend for Jeremiah. I didn’t want him to be lonely!
Meet BULL!
As you can see, Bull & Jeremiah are already great friends and Jeremiah actually is constantly checking up on Bull to make sure he’s okay. Here’s a cute pic of Jeremiah…
Have I ever mentioned that Fridays just aren’t my favorite?? They almost feel like my Monday. Just so much to do before the weekend when there’s even more to do…I long for real Mondays when I have a week to get everything done…
Anyway, Friday was early release from school. Dade had a doc appt. right after he got out of school (he insisted the appt be on a day he wouldn’t have to miss school…). We met with the ENT again because one side of Dade’s nose has been mostly blocked since the surgery. The doc thought it was swelling that would go down but had to admit that it was now scar tissue that had grown over from the septoplasty. Surgery #2 is now scheduled for Tues. Dade’s mostly upset about having to miss a day of school and hoping this won’t effect Wrestling at all.
As soon as we got home Dade was whisked away to babysit for my sister who was singing that night. After getting some EXCITING news from Ryan (again, more on this to come) I headed out for a fun evening of fantastic music!! My sister rocks it, no matter what kind of music she’s singing!
Lucky for me, and quite out of the norm, Saturday started off slow. We got the house tidied and the carpets cleaned. I then headed out for a shoot while Ryan took the kids out for some fun.
I met them at the playground afterwards for Frosties and was met by this amazing castle/birthday cake that Ryan and the girls made. The 3 candles are for Sylvie…
Ryan and I then got to head out to a special meeting at church. It was so wonderful to have him to myself for a bit.
Sunday started early as we drove across town to a biannual Stake conference for our local congregations. Half of us (4 congregations) were meeting at 9am while the rest were meeting at noon. It was there that we learned that they were redrawing the boundary lines for all 4 congregations. See, in our church, we are grouped geographically and the lines are usually drawn to ensure that there are enough Priesthood holders to run a congregation and enough other members to fill the positions needed to keep everything running smoothly (teachers, leaders, music directors, etc.). When one area starts to over flow or one has people move out and they can’t sustain themselves then the lines have to be redrawn so that everyone has a chance to serve and the building isn’t too full. They did this by adding a new congregation and shifting members from the other congregations (wards) into it. They also made a few other shuffles to ensure that every ward had just what they needed. So, now, friends from my ward are now in 3 other wards!! Since this means an entire restructure of the volunteers in each ward we’ll be meeting on a modified schedule for a few weeks while we all figure out who our new teachers and leaders are going to be. (It’s a lay ministry so everyone is prayerfully picked for a position and then asked to fill it.) You never know what you’ll be doing next! I work with the children but the entire children’s (Primary) leadership were released from their positions and 3 of them were switched to other wards so I’m all alone! I can’t wait to see what the coming weeks will bring! Corben is sad because his Chemist Scout leader will now be in another church building. He was pretty sad about it but his leader has promised to still come and take him to his lab.
