So, FINALLY….after YEARS of anticipation….here is our kitchen remodel.
This is the before. Originally there was linoleum flooring in here but when Ryan decided to SPRAY PAINT the counters with black appliance paint they were pretty much ruined so he decided to put in hard woods. THANK YOU! He was actually in the process of that when I met him. Over time the paint started to chip and the yellow counter top underneath started to show through in little specks forcing me to constantly think there were crumbs on the counter. It made me crazy. As one of their chores, Ryan would have the kids sit with a permanent black marker and fill in all the spots. As you can kind of tell, he used bathroom floor tiles for a back splash.
Here it is the day we were going to rip out the cupboards…..
THIS is the AFTER!! YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH…….YEAH!!!!!!!
It includes new cherry cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling and that have sliding drawers and shelves. Ryan also tore out the wall to the right of the fridge and put in 2 half depth cupboards that hold our cups, bread, and spices. LUV IT!! The counters are quartz and the new undermount sink is stainless steel. The backsplash is multicolored slate that Ryan sealed and put up himself. We got a pan rack to hang above the sink (thanks Jamie for the FABULOUS idea) and found a great over the stove microwave on Craigslist. Oh, and Ryan put in under cupboard lighting!
My SIL gave us some paint that has gone perfectly in the kitchen & dining room and Heather (another SIL) came and helped me make curtains. The fabric for the curtains and seat cushions was picked out by another friend from church and it all just fits perfectly with our “new” eight leaf table we got off of craigslist and Ryan refinished.
There ya go! Sorry it took 2 years to get it up but that’s about how long it took us to get it done! I still have to get some photos back up on the wall of the dining room but I think I’m going to do canvas so that will have to wait. In the mean time….I LOVE MY KITCHEN!
