So…I decided to do better on my blog. Not that I didn’t do great on last years. In fact, I have blogged the entire year, you just haven’t seen it yet. Why? Because, well - to state it matter of fact-ly, my Amazing brother died in May and how do you write about that? When I figure it out I’ll let you know. …and then there was this ONE video from April that was the wrong format and since I haven’t had time to figure out how to fix that I couldn’t post that blog or any of the ones after it because they’d be out of order… Yes…that’s how I roll. However!! Since it’s a new year I can kind of justify skipping all of that with *it will come eventually.
So, with a renewed vigor for documentation I welcome you to our very first Week in Review (which I’d love to stop calling it that but I can’t because I’ve done it for years and as above I have a hard time with change and doing things out of order…meh.)
Quick catch up:
1. Dade – Senior year. About to finally get his driver’s license. Luv him!
2. Corben – Eighth grade. Still playing cello and singing in chorus. I call him the Ella whisperer. He’s a huge help!
3. Ella – 2nd grade. Loves writing and baring her testimony. Active as ever. Loving as ever!
4. Sylvie – Started Kindergarten! Loves art and clothes. Great help around the house & with Collin.
5. Collin – walking. talking. running. climbing. opening. playing. cute as ever. I adore him.
6. Ryan – still in Primary. Work going great. Handsome as ever.
7. Me – Compassionate service coordinator & public affairs committee. Doing a thousand things & finishing none of them. :)
There. Now we can start fresh.
Wednesday the 1st! I took amazing video of them shouting Happy New Year!…and it got erased or disappeared or something… :( Meh. So…here’s some pictures and another video…
Collin was super excited about shredding the paper and sitting in the box with all the paper and playing in it BUT he wasn’t so sure about everyone else throwing it and he definitely didn’t like it being all over himself, mom, or dad! He kept trying to clean us off. Oh, and everyone but Dade was here but I apparently only think Collin is cute…(actually they’re all in the missing video – I promise!)
In the morning before everyone else woke up I got these bad boys ready for delivery! I’ll be making a How To blog someday…
THEN from the other room I heard “I Want Mom!” but, of course, he would only talk baby talk on the video…
Thursday – However TODAY you can hear him really talk! :)
Friday I had a lot to do. I went and picked up some used furniture for our new house & then (in the Spirit of our 12 MONTHS of Christmas celebration – more on this later) we headed out to do some service. Sometimes people doing family history work need to see a person’s headstone to get birth and death information but they live so far away that it’s not feasible so they put a request online. Luckily, one of the cemeteries wasn’t too far from our trip home so the girls and I went and found a family for someone and took pictures for them!
Then it was off to Wal-Mart to spend their gift cards from Grandpa! Yay for after Christmas sales!
THEN:
This just happened:
Mom: I made the best peanut brittle this week. It was so good that I have some I wrapped up as a gift for someone that I'm going to open up and eat!
Me: You're right, that peanut brittle was PERFECT.
Mom: What peanut brittle?
Me: The peanut brittle you wrapped up and gave to me this week.
Mom: DRAT!!!
There’s a funny family exchange that goes with that that might get shared later. :)
(Here’s a VERY short version with some of the pics and only 100th of the conversation…I told everyone that mom made brittle and we found that some folks didn’t get any. Then Jymn started bragging about what they were having for supper…
Refusing to be topped I showed him what WE were having for supper…
Then began the war of the “most interesting” meal combination…
and some funniness about the word:
pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
(which Jymn’s kids can’t spell…)
------------
Daily cuddle pic with Collin (with a twist). This boy LOVES to wear other people’s shoes…
Saturday was a crazy trip in the car to deliver a mattress to my mom’s house. It started off almost not happening after the van engine almost had a melt down…well, not a melt down, more of the opposite…Ryan fixed her right up though!
Saw Frozen this morning and it was HORRIBLE!....not the Movie...the car engine...Ryan's currently trying to resuscitate her. She's struggling but I think she'll pull through.
Here’s Collin demonstrating his fist bump moves with his brothers (he initiated) and some awesome dance moves.
And helping his brothers give high fives to each other…
Someone refuses to perform for the camera….
Later in the day I got a bag of the best Peanut Brittle EVER!
Mommy/baby Selfies
Sunday was Collin’s first day in Nursery & he did great!
The rest of the day was quiet and the girls did some great art!
Late night curled up in my bed next to Daddy on the laptop…
