Fine! I will never catch up! To quote FlyLady, “You're not behind, you can jump in where you are.” and “Housework (Blogging) imperfectly done still blesses your family.” So here I go! Let’s start with a doozy…
On Monday, Ryan and I bought a house. (Now friends – don’t yell at me! We aren’t moving until May-ish and even though it’s in another ward it’s not terribly far and we still have FB. ) We’re actually building and though it’s scary, nerve wracking, and worst of all for me: Change (dun dun DUUUNNNN); it’s wonderful and fantastic and exciting. Our home will be big enough to fit our entire family and then some. We have been financially smart enough that not only can we pay for the new home but we do not have to sell our current home. (I can never thank God enough for Ryan’s job.) We will be closer to all of Ryan’s family, to better schools, my brother Adam & his family, and to Ryan’s work. AND I get to have a say in how it’s designed! (That could be horrific or great…) Here’s some pics of sweet Collin as I try to distract him while signing papers.

I just LOVE starting my morning reading God's word. Just sets the mood and feel for the day. Studying the words of Isaiah this beautiful morning, where are you studying at?
3 – birthdays! video
It's official...I'm the proud mom of an adult! Can't believe it's been 18 years since the day Dade was born. Happy Birthday, Xander Lamkins! I love you lots and lots! — withXander Lamkins.
Today is a very special day in our house!! (and not in our house) It’s Ryan’s & Dade’s birthdays!! Ryan’s not a birthday sort of guy and he requested that I only acknowledge it with a homemade blueberry pie.
For Dade’s celebration I made him a “Raspberry Pie” cake (play on the kind of computer he uses for his research)! I was also able to give a double gift! Dade’s car has been hanging out at our house so Dade could only use it when he was home on vacations (he can’t keep it at the school or even drive it on campus) but I found a place near the school where he has better access to it and that made both Dade & Ryan very happy!
We spent the evening with Dade and Maddie eating pizza and enjoying cake and presents. Two of my favorite moments was watching Dade laugh and play with his siblings as they each kept attempting to steal his eggnog, and watching Maddie laugh at Collin’s slow laughing. Her laugh is wonderful and contagious. :)
My mom went to the Bahamas and all she got me was this stinkin’ T-shirt…

Christmas celebration this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Come hear local choirs perform write you enjoy nativities from around the world! (Including a certain Chocolate one)
-------
I read this post this morning and knew that all (yes all) of us can relate. It starts with this quote - "I believe it's important to learn to endure life's challenges with a certain amount of grace and aplomb, but as a person who has pretty much gone through life enduring life's challenges like a howler monkey, I confess to struggling with the ideal." -- I laughed. It's so true. We all experience the path of life in different ways but I think if we slowed down and looked at those walking around us we'd more fully realize that we're not the only one getting tired on the uphill, tripping over bumps, jumping pot holes, and trying not to step on cracks (our mother's backs depend on it). Our individual focuses make the difference in what I see vs. what you experience, but it's the same for all of us. Life's a treacherous road even for those who look like they're flying high above it. -- Makes me even more thankful for the word of God that not only helps me to map my way home but gives precise first aid instruction for life's skinned knees. It also makes me want to share that Word with those walking beside me who look a bit more beat up than the rest of us. http://seeingisbelieving95.blogspot.com/2013/11/howler-monkeys.html?spref=fb

thinking of you yesterday and the awesome gift of Christmas Cheer you gave me so many years ago. Thank you, again, from the bottom of my heart. It meant so much to me then and continues to touch my heart every Yuletide.
Thursday was make-the-nativity day. Making chocolate nativities has been a tradition in my family since I was little. 13 years ago I made one for the very first Community Christmas Celebration and it’s been a hit every year. They won’t let me stop (lol). I missed one year (I was having emergency surgery to get that wretched gallbladder out) and I never heard the end of it! They even mention it in the paper the week before so even though this is the craziest week of my life every year I buckle down and get to work. It will never be as nice as I truly want it to be because it’s often a 4-6 hour process so if you wonder why everything is colored so “nicely” and then there’s coconut just thrown on there…I had to get out the door before they opened the event without it! I do love doing it and I also love the attention it gets every year. It’s a fun part of our celebration.
This year's chocolate nativity. Made from milk chocolate, white chocolate, butterscotch, mint, peanut butter, coconut, and taffy bits.

It's always amazing to me how even when I'm just reading my scriptures in order and not searching out specific guidance, the Lord opens my eyes to see truth that will help me today and even this very moment. What a blessing.
