11-21-2010 Week in Review…

Our final week without Ryan.  I have to say, we’ve been doing pretty well but I attribute a lot of that to the amazing people we have around us.  Monday our neighbor’s came over with cake, played with the girls and completely organized the living room/toy areas.  Loving my neighbor is quite easy with them around!  We took advantage of technology and had Ryan join us for our evening routine via Video Chat.  I used the laptop so we just carried him around as he joined us for family prayer, brushing teeth and tucking in.  It was great!

I had both boys home this week on different days.  The girls decided to make them cookies to help them feel better.  They used play dough, a bin lid for a pan and cooked them in their kitchen that I finally  moved out onto the deck.  (I love plastic toys…)

Thursday was CRAZY.  First, I got up EARLY with Dade to watch the Leonid Meteor shower before the sun came up.  I LOVE a good meteor shower.  We saw several before I decided I was too cold and tired to be out there.   I babysat in the morning for a good friend.  My SIL came by to go through baby clothes (that = a total of 5 kids 4 and under running around).  We ran to our 2nd to last interview for Tantrum Tamers (where I got  $150 HAPPY DAY!).  We rushed from there to Corben’s school so I could pick him up and rush home to get dressed for the PTSA awards ceremony & meet & greet the Principal (that I was partially in charge of) BUT INSTEAD…Dade called to say he injured his hip so I instead rushed home to grab him and go to the doctors for x-rays.  They determined he’s just got a deep tissue bruise.  We then ran home (after mom met me at the doctors to grab some kids from me) to get ready for my Grandma coming to stay with us for a day or so!!  Yeah Grandma!! (or Grandma Great as the girls like to call her!)

Friday started EARLY…too early.  Dade slept downstairs with Grandma and at 3AM I hear an alarm going off.  HIS alarm!  It was SO loud!  So, I rush downstairs to find Grandma sitting up trying to figure out why her wrist watch is going off.  She kept saying she thought her watch was broken.  I was trying not to laugh at her in her sleepy state and instead woke Dade from a dead sleep to let him know he’d set his alarm wrong and that it had been going off for who knows how long.  When we all finally awake for real, Grandma told me about her watch going off and I got to laugh for real.  She thought it was pretty funny, too.

We spent the day talking and watching movies.  The girls LOVED having her there.  What a great day!

Saturday is a special day, it’s the day we get ready for Ryan coming home!!  Oh, and it’s our 6th Anniversary!!  Weren’t we so cute!!?

So our day started before the crack of dawn as Dade had to meet his teem at 6:30 am.  This was his first wrestling scrimmage and it was an all day event.  I sent him out with a sad heart knowing there just was too much for me to do today to be able to go and watch him.  We headed home and started getting the house ready but my mother guilt just wouldn’t let me be.  Then I realized he hadn’t packed a lunch so I gathered the kids quickly, stopped at Wendy’s, and then drove the 40  minutes to the last half of Dade’s match.  We missed the first 3 times he wrestled and his first win but I did get to witness 2 more rounds and he did amazing!!  I really am so proud of him.  I did have a scare though.  In the 2nd match the young man he was wrestling put him in an illegal choke hold on two occasions and it was much to long before the ref caught it.  We were all yelling that he couldn’t breathe but I guess the ref just had a bad angle. Anyway, Dade almost collapsed after the 2nd time and even though he made it through another minute of wrestling he was having severe trouble with his breathing after the round.  Of course, I had no inhaler on hand but he was able to sit down and work through it though I was ready to call an ambulance at one point.  We will be into see the doctor for a new treatment plan first of the week.  That was so not cool.

(In the pics below, Dade is in the blue and yellow.)

We got home and had just enough time to get everything ready and head out to pick up Ryan from the airport.  Everyone was so excited to see him and they cheered even louder when he passed out gifts!!  The boys got t-shirts and the girls got new dresses and shoes.

Then, since it was already 9:30 pm we put the kids to bed and sat up listening to our neighbors party on their 4 wheelers until 2 am and sipped sparkling grape juice and attempted to fell asleep.

We spent Sunday just enjoying Daddy being home.  Now I’m off to play a game with Corben.  See ya next week!

I love the dresses/shirts Ryan got them. Oh--and if it looked like I was just on your blog for hours yesterday, well, I was, but I wasn't. I left it open and walked away for a long while. So...don't be creeped out. :)
