So, I’ve kind of…been keeping track. Of what?? Of who comments on my blog and how often. Crazy, huh? Okay, it didn’t really start out that way. You see, a long time ago (almost 2 years, actually) I set up my email to send any blog comments to a special folder so I could keep my inbox cleaned up. I never really looked in the folder other than to read your sweet comments but there it sat, keeping track. A few months back I started doing a back up of my blog over the last 3 years and included all of the post comments. I started to notice a pattern and began to feel a little guilty. I have a friend who is always there for me. She comments on almost every post I put up. She knows that it makes me feel good to know people are reading what I write and that they care. I know she feels the same way when people comment on her blog. Yet, I’ve lazied myself into reading her blog through Google Reader and since I actually would have to connect directly to her blog in order to leave comments I often simply soak in the wonder that is everything she writes and then go on my merry way with a new skip in my step leaving her to sit and wonder if anyone ever even saw her thoughts at all. I feel so ashamed…so, out of curiosity, I added up the totals…and it’s pretty insane. My good friend Rae has left at least 96 comments on my blog since February of 2009. 96!! That’s almost one every week! The next closest comes in a 3 way tie of the Poem Gnome, my brother Jymn & his wife, Shelby, & my good friend Rebekah R. who have all commented 24 times in the last 2 years. Rae has them at almost 4 to 1!
NOT that I’m saying that commenting = love….exactly…BUT…it does mean something to any person who pours their life out on digital paper week after week. It mean, Hey! You took the time to write and I think that’s worth a few lines back to you letting you know I think you’re awesome (or at least worth online stalking…).
So, as a thank you for all your time and thoughtfulness over the years, I’m giving each of my top four commenters a GIFT!! I know, right!! You had no idea you were going to win something today just for being my awesome friend, did you!? What Is It?? you ask???….I’m not sure yet…I’ll have to get back to you…but it’s something! LUV YOU!!
P.S. This was NOT to make anyone feel guilty but simply to say thanks to my friends for making me feel good! I LOVE everyone of you, even if you don’t have time to comment, and I know you love me!!…right?…RIGHT??? …SAY SOMETHING, WILL YA!!!….just kidding… :) seriously.

ahhh.....well i'm glad i made your top list although now i feel guilty for not posting more! i read everyone of your posts.....arg.....must do better!!
As I sat there reading in Google Reader... :) But seriously, Rae is so good that way. I know how much I value comments from friends and when we're blogging and using that as a journal, but also to share our day-to-day with friends, it's so "warm fuzzy"-like when they leave comments!
I have to admit too, that sometimes I see Rae's comments and think, "oh you put it so perfectly! I just won't say anything this time." Or I'll think, "Well, my sister's commented, so our family has said something. I'll wait." Not very good reasons, are they?
I'm so glad that she's been sending warm fuzzies your way though. She sure knows how to take care of us loved ones of hers. And I'm glad for the reminder that it only takes a minute or two to drop a line. :)
Love you Christy!
Way to guilt people into commenting. See? It worked!
Awww....I'm simultaneously blushing and teary-eyed. You are so fun to read. Your life. Your humor. Your determination and your happiness. And even your (oh-so-occasional) disgruntled moments. I love, therefore I comment. I'm also a middle-child who loves to be heard and can't resist putting in my two cents, or twelve. To be completely forthright. :)
I'm glad you had a good excuse
For tracking what we say
In cyber world it seems our words
Will never go away!
And though polite, I'm glad you know
If we fail to converse
It's probably Google Reader
Or no time to write in verse. :-D
Love ya!
Uh, it's Oct 5th and I'm just seeing this post? I have had computer problems recently :^) and have been doing everything via Blackberry, and uh, to say the Blackberry platform is limited in regards to internet accessibility is an understatement. That is my excuse. I stand by that.
By the way, I read your blog because it's interesting and funny. Not just because I love you. --Jymn
