9-5-2010 Week in Review….

I have yet to get pics of the party last week BUT there are some pictures of Corben’s new PET…keep reading.

After much debate, I finally convinced Corben I knew best on how to treat his foot and he hobbled off to school with a taped toe and a note asking if he could use the elevator.  Why not?

Dade headed out EARLY for his first morning of Seminary.  His ride was here at 5:45 am.  Luckily he’s been getting up around 4:30am for years so I figure he should have no problems staying awake in class.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, Early morning seminary is a scripture study class that LDS youth attend before school each day.  It’s about an hour long and is held each day there is school.  Youth attend for four years studying a different set of scripture each year.  They study the New Testament, Old Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine & Covenants.  I’m so proud of Dade’s open willingness to devote his mornings to this.  He was excited to go.  We purchase his a new set of Scriptures with his name on them.  My kid is awesome!!

After everyone got home from school we headed out as a family to go meet some of Ryan’s co-workers for a BB-game!  The food and drinks were FREE and the kids even got free certificates for the treat of their choice from the concessions.  So much fun!

My boys….sleep eating…

Here’s my brother and his girlfriend, Cassie, who somehow managed to:

  • Show up late to the game & still…
  • …get a free parking spot RIGHT in front of the entrance with the cop cars because he was on a motorcycle…
  • …have someone walk up to them at the gate and offer them free passes to get in…
  • …hang out long enough by the gate that Ryan’s boss went and got them free tickets to enter our “fancy” area during the game and eat a free dinner ($22 value EACH)…

My brother is amazing like this…I don’t know how he does it!

Funny story…I asked Dade to get the wet wipes so I could clean up the girls.  Well, they come in one of those plastic lids where you pull the wipe through the top one at at time.  These had never been used so, thinking he could get one out, Dade stuck his finger in through the top…and it got STUCK!!  The harder he tried to pull it out the more the little spikes dug into his finger.  He finally came up with a genius plan of holding the spikes out of the way with knives (you can see his finger is almost white in the 3rd picture…it was REALLY stuck!)  It was very painful but he managed to finally get his finger out.  Hopefully he can be an example to the rest of you of what NOT to do. LOL

Ella wanted SO badly to meet Wool E Bully all night…this is her pointing and begging as he passed.

Well, summer’s over so I have to get back to work…my calendar’s practically filled until the end of November…sigh…that’s a good thing, right??  Here’s a sneak peek at today’s shoot…

& the deck got fixed – Go Ryan!

So, this morning I was blessed with the opportunity to drive the kids to Seminary.  My very gracious friend has been doing it all week due to the fact that Ryan has an odd work schedule that has him leaving all hours of the early morning.  As I drove with those boys it brought back so many early morning memories, like:

  • When my mom taught in our home and I would just ask her to open my bedroom door and talk loud.
  • The Ruggs driving & picking us all up each morning and playing Joe Scruggs Traffic Jams the entire way.  (I had to buy that album for my kids because I grew to love the songs so much!  They love it too! – I so wished I’d had it in the car this morning….lol)
  • When we witnessed a horrible motorcycle accident on the way one morning and Bro. Rugg left his son behind to stay with the driver while he took the rest of us to class.
  • Sherri teaching me sign language on the way.
  • Cinnamon Rolls….hot ones….yum….
  • Reed’s school lunch silverware sculptures & Isaac’s drawings all over my seminary papers (I still have these. – the drawings not the sculptures…sigh)
  • All the fun we had! (Like flour ball tag….remember??)
  • Laurie (who somehow became my Cousin-in-Law) in all her cuteness and her cheerleading outfit.
  • The amazing friendships I still have with most of them! (Danielle, Laurie, Terry, Pax, Enoch, Steve, Isaac, Cheryl, Austin, …hey, who am I missing…and where’s everyone else? We need to have a reunion…)
  • Um, there’s more but my kids are in need of direction so I must go!

We were also blessed to have some cousin time today!!  The girls got all dressed up and had a picnic in the kitchen!  I have video that’s pretty funny but for some reason it won’t load…sigh.

Friday was errand day….busy, busy, busy!!  The girls and I ran out to get a special gift for a birthday party Ella was invited to later in the day.  The girls LOVED the fountains in the shopping center and I let them each throw a penny in and make a wish.  They took it SO seriously with closed eyes and whispered wishes….

We then headed out to a super fun Camping Birthday party!!

Saturday was the MOST BEAUTIFUL DAY EVER!!  It was so gorgeous, in fact that Ryan fell asleep on the deck with Sylvie and I opened all the doors and windows to let in all the fresh air.  Why, oh why, can’t it feel like this ALL YEAR??  We also got some more done on the deck this week…see the benches??

The kids have been enjoying the wildlife that’s loving our deck as well.  Ella has NO FEAR of any big or creature and I often find her walking around with some poor creature tucked into her hand…

Sunday…we FINALLY got a new time for church!  Every year the local congregations exchange times.  We now start at 11am rather than 9am.  Though I’ll miss the long afternoon, I’ll be loving the long morning…YEAH!

After church, I headed out to a local park with my brother and his family.  We snapped a few cute moments of their family on such a beautiful day.  I luv you guys!!

When Corben and I got home from the park, we finally helped Corben’s new frog, Spotters, into it’s new home!

Meet Spotters!  He’s a Fire-belly Toad & the latest addition to our family.  He’s the only pet (unless you count Trilobites) we’ve ever had!

Again, sorry Jessica that it took me until TUESDAY to get this up!!  Thanks for the SUBTLE reminder! LOL LUV YA!!
