Just kidding…but I am excited about all the recent news coverage picky eating is getting. Now if that would only translate into health care…..sigh.
Anyway, in the past month there have been 4 major articles written in the news about Picky Eating in Adults. The Wall Street Journal, one Canadian magazine, the Raleigh, NC News & Observer, and ABC News Health. The last two were in the last two days! Add a new show coming out on TLC, interviews with BBC America, NPR interviews, and talks of a Black Thursday (Thanksgiving for all you foodies) get together catered with picky eater delights and things seem to be well on their way to recognition and then change for so many people that feel like social outcasts. I admit that I’m not nearly as socially concerned with my eating habits as I came to terms with them years ago. But I’m not like most of the picky eaters I know. Some are on their 3rd marriages, some are social outcasts, never having gone to ANY group activities as kids, teens, and now adults. Can you imagine?? I feel for them and for the kids who have broken tongues and their parents don’t know. I just want to help get help for those kids. I worry about them…..
Anyway, if you want to read any of the articles, I’m keeping a running list of links on my PEAs tab at the top of my blog. There are several TV interviews coming out soon and I’m make sure I keep it updated with links and such. That way, if any of you are closet picky eaters, or know one, you can share with them. I always thought I was the only one…..

I had never heard of adult picky eaters till you mentioned it. As I was reading up on it this morning, it struck me that many, if not all?, adult picky eaters must be supertasters. Have you heard that term before? I only learned about it a few years ago because we have a kid's CD by They Might Be Giants and they sing a song called, "John Lee, Supertaster". It's very fun. :) You can probably find it on Youtube.
I found two tests you can take to see if you're a supertaster. One that involves the help of a doctor, another you can do at home. I don't think I'm one, but I don't think I'm on the other end of the spectrum either, a "non-taster". It'd be fun to do the test and see. :) Let me know if you do it!
