4-11-2010 Week in Review

Tuesday the boys headed back to school and I headed back to work taking pictures.

After this particular shoot I hung out late at my in-laws as my fabulous BIL finished up our new computer for me to take home.  As I was driving home the car in front of me ran a red light and t-boned another car.  Being the first car on the scene and the only car that ever stopped it was up to me to call 911, talk with paramedics and help to assess any medical needs.  The driver of the first car thought he was having a heart attack and the driver of the car that was hit directly was trapped and thought her leg might be broken.  They were all fine when I left after giving my report to the police.  Needless to say, I got home a little late that night.

Okay, slightly funny story…well to me, anyway….

I’m sitting in a cop car waiting for them to come and question me.  The cop comes over, asks me my name…asks me to spell it…..then asks me my age.  Without hesitation I state “36”.  THIRTY-SIX!!???  What in the WORLD??!! I JUST turned 35!!  So then I stammer because I’m shocked that I just aged myself a full year for no good reason and blurt out, “Wait, NO, I’m 35!!”  The cop looks at me funny….”Which is it?”  “35”, I say, “definitely 35…I’m pretty sure.  It must be late…”  I then shut up.  He then asks me for my drivers license which I suddenly realize is EXPIRED!!  AAAHHHH!  However, upon noting my pause, he asks me if it’s in my car down the road.  When I tell him yes he says, Nevermind, do you know the number?  Well, of course, I know the number! I had just given it to my BIL that night for some camp related stuff.  I then blurt it out like I say it everyday.  He then kindly sends me on my way.  Only half way home do I realize that I gave him a mix of my drivers license number & my phone number!  I gave the same # to my BIL, too!  It’s a wonder I stay out of jail with my brain…….

Wednesday was beautiful!!  The girls spent a great deal of it outside.DSC_8593DSC_8595

The evening was crazy as someone had to take Dade to scouts while my mom took Corben to his rehearsal for show choir.  I then spent ANOTHER VERY LATE EVENING out helping a friend finish a huge project for her FIL.

Thursday was Corben’s big performance.  He was so excited!  My sister and her family all came to see him sing his little heart out!

Someone had suggested to me that we sit on the left as that is where Corben would be standing on the front row.  Though very well intentioned our seats left us with NO view of Corben except his right arm (unless I sat way to the right, I could then see a bit of his head.).  He’s standing directly behind the girl with the red headband in front.  However, the performance was great and Corben did a wonderful job!

Despite the red eyes and tongue, Corben actually sang very well in the final number!  For the 3rd night in the row, I was out VERY LATE!!

Friday I checked the boys out early and we headed off for a fun weekend and the Scout Camporee!!

It was SO COLD that night but we started Saturday off early anyway and the boys headed off to shoot guns, climb walls, and shoot arrows.  I got lucky enough to have family there in need of photos….PERFECT!!

I spent ALL morning taking pictures of the boys and their rockets taking off.

I was then able to catch up with Corben and his friends just as I was also asked to be an official camp photographer….I should have asked for a golf cart…that camp is HUGE!!  So, I spent the rest of the day capturing pics of every kid but my own.

I missed Dade at the tower but Dr. Henderson was there with his camera and got these fantastic pics of Dade going up the wall!!

In the picture above, Corben is informing his leader that he left his scout shirt at the BB gun range….almost a mile away…if not more….UGH!!  We never found it….

After catching back up with Corben and the gang at the rocket field I was able to capture a few of Corben getting his archery beltloop.

We finally left camp about 9:30 pm getting us home somewhere around 11pm making a full week of VERY LATE NIGHTS…..I was exhausted!!

Add to all that exhaustion having to get up at some crazy hour for church!!  Those kids were lucky I didn’t fall asleep on my feet singing in front of them!!  I spent the rest of the day trying to REST and checking out my great garden that my awesome husband works so hard on.  He even built a new trellis for our beans!  YEAH!

Gee, I love the pics -- you are a great photographer. I envy, to say the least. Love your entry this week but now I am worried about your DL. Don't forget to get "that thang" renewed!
