Okay, so I’m a LITTLE behind…guess I should get to work, especially after someone told me they were having withdrawal from my blog! Can’t have that happening. SO, here is February….it started out with SNOW….
Monday – snow
Tuesday – snow…and a woodpecker…
Wednesday – snow and my photo class was canceled.
Thursday – Yeah, school’s back in!
Friday – I got a NEW CAMERA!! I FINALLY was able to find a Nikon D300 and a reasonable price and snatched it up. I have to say, I’m a bit intimidated by all the features it has and hope I can figure it out before my next photo shoot!! The manual is almost an inch thick! Anyway, there were other good things today, too. Like SHAREWEAR! I went and worked on the early sort so I could do some early shopping. Sharewear is an event our local congregation puts on every year where everyone brings in their clothes/toys/household items that don’t fit any more and then we open the doors to the public to get FREE clothing. It’s fabulous! I was able to get shirts for the girls, shirts and winter gloves (the best find) for Corben and some coveralls for Ryan. YEAH! Later that evening, Dade had a basketball game. He plays for the church youth team. Each congregation has it’s own youth team, and smaller ones double up. Dade’s team hasn’t done so well this year….actually they’re pretty terrible BUT in this particular game, Dade scored the first and third set of points. He’s really not too bad! (He’s #24 below)
Last, but certainly not least, it was my sister, Rachel’s 19th birthday!! Happy Birthday, Sis!
Saturday started early for Ryan with an early morning run of the local Interfaith Food shuttle. I love that my husband serves in the community!
Sunday was the monthly Family Birthday party for the Schnegel family. We always have SO much fun with them.
Monday, I was up bright and early….4:15 to be exact!! Nothing like starting the week with a shuttle launch sighting!!! The space shuttle, Endeavour, was launching from Florida and traveling up the East Coast on what is to be the last night launch. We headed out and were so disappointed that it was cloudy but hung in there are were so excited when Dade and I saw the pulsing burners of the shuttle cross the sky. I can not tell you how exciting that was for me! I LOVE space stuff! Ryan was standing in the driveway grumbling how we weren’t going to be able to see anything…he missed the whole thing. I didn’t get a picture but here is kind of what it looked like, we had a much better view than this and it was much brighter (this picture was taken by someone else who saw it)
I then spent the rest of Monday tired and cleaning the house….here’s some pics of some birds I saw in a parking lot….
Tuesday….well, it started off with me sending my brother a picture of a dented Camry….he has a new phone so he was wondering who sent it….so first, I took this picture to send back to him….
I then decided that that was a boring picture….so, in some random moment of delirium, I then sent this one….
I realized as soon as I sent it that it was going to be put directly to Facebook….little did I know that my brother’s new phone had editing capabilities….THIS is what was online in seconds….
Notice the nice Eye Bulge going on….nice work, Jason! (I would have called him names if I wasn’t laughing so hard!)
SO, in direct concern that people may think that was what I REALLY look like and not realize how much Jason Photoshopped it….I had Tammy take a picture of how I REALLY look. Thanks, Tam!!
Here’s the conversation that ensued online after this was posted…..
Tammy -- Jason, that previous picture you posted was ooooobviously photoshopped--at least give her the courtesy of posting one with a better likeness...
Jason -- HAHA!!!
Mom -- You 2 are 2 funny! That's what family's 4!
Jason -- What are you talking about?! This is definitely photoshopped! We all know it's her RIGHT eye she wears a patch over and her left eye is too large to be covered by the fo-patch you have so well drawn on here. Check your facts.
Tammy -- Dang it. Alright....the patch was moved to cover the left eye bulge and the right eye is cut and pasted, but MINE is the right mustache--she hasn't worn her mustache like the way in your picture in years!
Me -- Um...I just stumbled upon this conversation that I wasn't included in...I think it's time to pull out some great pictures of the two of you....hmmmmmm. Luv ya!

Anyway, the rest of the day I was mega productive and rewarded myself by attending a Dove Chocolate Party at my SIL’s house. YUM! Then….TRAGEDY….
Apparently too much chocolate = major, major, major gallbladder attack.
I actually didn’t eat much chocolate at the party, HOWEVER, I did eat a great portion of it afterwards with Ryan as we watched a movie.
I have to tell you here that I am SO thankful for the healing powers of the Priesthood. I can’t imagine how life would be without God restoring them to the world today. To KNOW (and I KNOW) that my husband can use his Priesthood to bring me relief in my most dire hour is one of the greatest blessings of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To have other Priesthood holders from church who are willing to rush over at 4:30 in the morning to help my husband administer to me and to have pain that was more than I could handle, for hours on end, disappear in a matter of seconds, is so amazing that it is beyond my ability to express how truly thankful I am. There is no way that anyone could ever tell me that God didn’t work through these men to take my pain away. I KNOW it to be true!
Wednesday was spent recovering from a great lack of sleep. However I was well enough to go to my photography class! We were using Medium Format Cameras…with …..FILM! I know, we’re going back to the stone ages…. It was a lot of fun! So, here’s my weekly pics of Tara (and a bonus of Tim). There are a few extras here as she wasn’t at some of the later classes this month. Slacker….(okay, she was sick but whatever…)
Thursday, Ryan had the telescope out. We’ve been waiting the last few weeks for Saturn to come into view a bit earlier. We were lucky to find it tonight about 10:30pm. Here’s a VERY blurry pic taken with Dade’s camera (Ryan had troubles holding it still and Saturn moves pretty quick.). Now, in real life Saturn looked VERY clear and you could see the rings and 3 of the moons! SO COOL!
Friday was Family Breakfast at Corben’s school.
We finished up just in time to head over the meet with the girls’ playgroup for their Valentine’s party. Here’s a pic I took of Sylvie just before…..
Lucky for us, some of the cousins were able to join us! Here’s the kids eating their valentine’s candy.
Saturday we had some kind of stomach bug go through our house. YUCK. We also had more SNOW!! (Glad I got Corben those gloves!) Ryan managed to skip out on it and go play with my new camera. He went on a picture taking adventure with his brothers. So, here’s a blurry pic of Dade taken with the goofy camera I was left with at home and some fun pics taken by Ryan on the new one!
Sunday was Valentine’s day and I was home from church with an upset stomach. Later, however, we did have some adventure. We had another deer “stuck” in our yard. They always pace the back fence worried about jumping over but as soon as Ryan goes out there with the camera up and over they go!
Also, on V day, Corben came up with this awesome caterpillar/lobster costume. He was pretty proud of it (in fact it’s still in his room 2 weeks later….).
Monday it was MY BIRTHDAY!! and I spent it cleaning like never before. Things got a bit behind with me not feeling well lately and we had a TON of family coming over! Ryan surprised me with roses (my camera and the telescope were my real gifts).
Afterwards we headed outside to some more sky watching….I even saw 5 of Saturn’s moons!! YEAH! (Um, this pic was posed….thus the cheesy faces.) On his FB page my brother clarified to everyone that this was a telescope, not a cannon. I know, disappointing…..
Wednesday I took the girls for Krispy Kreme…YUMMMM
It was also Photography again….Hi, Tara!
Thursday, I spent the day with my fabulous Sister (this is actually the day we took the “not photoshopped” pics of me.). I love that she’s so close and we can see each other every week! Later in the day, Corben got a chance to ride 4 wheelers with his friend from next door. Talk about one excited kid!!
That night I had a Relief Society meeting about gardening. It was nice to be out with friends.
Friday evening I was able to attend Heritage Makers Regionals!! Can I tell you how much I LOVE this company??!! (more on this in a sec…)
Saturday was….THE PINEWOOD DERBY!!
Now, it was tough competition this year and though Corben looked like he may be in the run for a ribbon in speed he was quite happy to receive his 3rd place for design. Way to go, Corben! I have video of this event, maybe I’ll get it up here when I’m not exhausted…..
I spent the rest of the day at Heritage Makers Regionals. I’m so excited that they were held in Raleigh! This company is amazing and (seeing as I have a very expensive gallbladder surgery in my near future) a great way to make some extra money for my family! Here are several of the many displays they had up.
*****Here’s a link to the newest products introduced this last fall! Click here
*****Here’s a link to this March’s Host promotion! Click here If you host a workshop in March you get a FREE picture bracelet (almost $40 value). Help me pay for surgery…(no pressure there, huh!)…I want to live!!…okay, seriously (and that was serious…kinda) I haven’t met a person yet who wouldn’t LOVE to receive a special book of their own. It’s the kind of gift that doesn’t get re-gifted, tossed in a closet, or thrown away. In fact, it’s guaranteed to be shared with everyone they know, displayed in their home, and passed down generation to generation! Now how many affordable gifts can you say that about!!
Oh, and did I mention….(for those of you who have recently had computer back up problems….)…with a Premier membership (can be less than $9 a month) you get UNLIMITED online photo storage!! Yes, I said UNLIMITED! YEAH!
Sunday was a lot of fun in Primary. I asked the kids to put together the words to a verse we’d been working on from a pile of words on a table. I also asked them to get it done before I solved a Rubik’s Cube!….I won….but just barely. Those kids ROCK!! Ryan stayed at home with the girls and this is what I found when I got home……
This is the girls in what I call “Troll Mode”. They sometimes get in this crazy mood where they start yelling, in a troll like voice, to “Get out of My Castle!!”. Ryan thinks it’s hilarious…however, visiting cousins find it very disturbing…..lol.
Ryan and I then sat around for a few hours playing with the new camera.
“Look, Daddy, I wash my hands!”
I LOVE the colors in the bubble above….here they are zoomed in….
Daddy/Ella time….
Reading on of my Heritage Makers books on mom’s trip to Canada, Ella found a picture of a Cake she liked!
That evening we went and hung out with my fabulous family at my brother’s house. I sure love spending time with them!
The stars from our side porch….
Tuesday I actually managed to get the girls to the library for story time. They were actually really good and participated! Maybe we can keep doing this!….I hope….
Wednesday Corben was home from school with an upset stomach….oh CVS (Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome) how I wish you’d leave my boy alone! I did get to go to my photo class where we were working on studio lighting. My instructor invited some models he knew and though we were in VERY cramped quarters with hardly any room to move….I was able to snag a few. These aren’t the best, but I’m not done going through them yet….This girl’s eyes were AMAZING! (and yes, I’ve already apologized to my mom for posting pics with cleavage….)
Thursday -
Sylvie with her book BEFORE her nap….
Almost ready for Nap…..
Sylvie and her book DURING her nap…..
I found her like this….snoring…..
Friday was a very nice day. Ryan was heading out for the weekend with his brothers so he stayed home from work in the morning. He helped get Corben to school, got the kids breakfast, watched the girls while I did some Visiting Teaching, and then headed out for a fun weekend. The girls and I weren’t bored without him, though. We had my niece and nephew over for a few hours to play. Ella LOVES her cousin, Bean. I then got a call from the school that Corben wasn’t feeling well…..did I mention I hate CVS…..I then spent several hours trying to figure out how to get Dade to a 9pm basketball game in one town while I was trying to be in a town almost an hour away to spend time with my fabulous SIL Heather! At the VERY LAST MINUTE….literally, we had someone pull through on picking up Dade for the game and I headed out with the other kids for a night with family. Can I tell you how much I enjoy my SIL Heather? We had a nice quiet evening of just hanging out and talking about life while the kids ran crazy. If I had to make a list of all my favorite sounds in the world, Heather’s laugh would be right up near the top. It always makes me happy! We picked Dade up on the way back into town and were disappointed (though not surprised) that they lost terribly. At least that means we don’t have 2 more games tomorrow!
Saturday was CLEANING DAY for the boys. Time to find the floor in that bedroom of theirs. I bribed them with Monkey Joe’s and it worked. Dade didn’t get to go but he was okay with it. There was a church youth dance at 7pm that he didn’t want to miss!! So, after getting him a ride….again, I headed out with the Monkeys to go have some fun. (These pics are all blurry because I was using Dade’s camera….)
First, here’s a CLOSE UP of me and Sylvie going down the slide….
Adam tossing Corben around, much to Corben’s amusement….
Sunday was interesting. It’s not so easy taking all the kids to church with out Ryan. But somehow we managed pretty well. Ryan is finally home and playing with the girls. Corben is outside after just having made the biggest bow and arrow set ever! Hopefully he’ll slow down long enough for me to catch a picture!
And Today is my niece’s 2nd birthday!! Happy Birthday, Makenzie!! Luv you!

Wow! That was a lot of reading. Thanks for ending the drought! I love all your pictures, as usual!
Thanks for the wonderful blog. In fitting contrast to having to apologize to Mom for posting pictures with cleavage, Dad says "thank you". You do wonderful blogs and I thoroughly enjoy them. Though they remind me of how much I am missing out on, I at least get to keep up with part of your life and the grandkids. Thank you.
