4-6-08 Week in Review

Well it was a great week!! The boys were out of school for Spring Break which timed perfectly their dad's leave from Iraq. (He's been on his 2nd tour there since Sept.) They were able to spend Tuesday through Friday with him. They went to the movies, the science museum in Durham, got new shoes (Yeah!), and spent the night with their Grandparents in Fayetteville. It's such a shame he only gets a little time off, but the boys are sure glad he was able to spend so much of it with them.

The girls and I just spent the week hanging out. I got my hair cut and colored on Tuesday. I haven't had my hair colored in 13 years but decided to get some highlights to better show off the new hair cut. It's really cute. I was actually able to get Ella's hair up in a style for all of 20 minutes on Wednesday! That's a record. I distracted her by letting her help me in the kitchen. She was having a lot of fun. I also got Ryan pretty good for April Fools day! (see previous post)

Adam's wife, Jessica, and their two little ones (R.J. and Makenzie) came over on Friday and Adam joined us after getting off work a bit early. I love that they live so close!

Sylvie started pulling up on things a little more regularly this week, tried to cruise a bit on furniture, and even let go once and tried to stand. We have recently weened her onto formula in an attempt to help with all of the spitting up and discovered that soy formula solved the problem. Seems she may be lactose intolerant. Anyway, it's been so nice to not deal with vomit all day!! YEAH! Ella is still not talking much..well she talks, it's just not in a language I understand yet. Anyway, she is signing more and more. She started signing "Please" this week. I love it! She's also figuring out that if she calms down and quits screaming she gets a lot farther with me and her dad. It's nice to see she's understanding the things we're trying to teach her.

Ryan headed out late Friday night to go fishing with his brother and a friend. They were out until the wee hours of the morning under a bridge on the Neusse River. Ryan caught two catfish. It just happened that a thunderstorm came up right as they started so they at least got a great lightning show.

We had a very busy weekend. Our church holds a world wide conference twice a year that lasts for 2 days. It's broadcast via satellite so we're able to watch the 4 different sessions on television, which is so nice. In addition, Ryan and I attended a wedding and a birthday party on Saturday. We took Sylvie along to the wedding and she was quite the hit. The photographer took quite a few pictures of her and she got many compliments on her sweet nature and big smile. Ryan ate it up. Sunday we had a friend and her son over for the morning session of conference and then headed over to Ryan's brother, Mark's house for the evening session and a barbecue. They recently adopted a cat named Crookshanks so I took the opportunity to make them a cake!! (See previous post.) It was a hit and quite yummy too! All in all, it was a great week, a bit rainy, but fun.

What a busy week for you! Glad to hear the boys got to spend some time with CJ. Sounds like they had a really nice visit. I'm getting more excitied thinking about our trip in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see everyone!
Love,
Lisa

I don't know that Sylvie's great-gramma was lactose intolerant, necessarily, but she never drank milk, never cared for it *at all*, even as a kid.

Is that red hair I see in Makenzie's picture?
