The funny thing about the picture below is that it was taken when Sylvie was sad that Daddy was going somewhere without her. Okay, that’s not the funny part. The funny part is that she’s currently upset that he couldn’t take her to the dump with him and just came over and laid her head on my shoulder the same way and then looked forward and felt like she was looking in a mirror. (Truly he doesn’t leave her behind if he can help it.)
We spent the evening having Family Home Evening at Ryan’s dad’s house doing service. The entire family came over and cleaned up his yard (kind of difficult in the dark but it happened) and the kids pealed the wallpaper from him living room walls to prepare for painting. We just love spending time with family and love it even more when we can do service for someone we love!
Tuesday started off kind of weird and I was temporarily in a very bad mood.
Just had something happen that threw me off and put me in a REALLY bad mood. I have so much to do today, I don't have time or the energy to be feeling like this so if you could say a prayer (and/or something funny) I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!
Only moment after posting the above on FB just because I knew I needed the prayers, they were answered in a HUGE way! My hubby decided, on a whim, to take the morning off work and save the day. Yay, Ryan!
We also were able to get the Christmas tree up today and get it decorated! Not sure I’ve ever had that done this early in the year.
Wednesday was gymnastics! Also a trip to the dentist for me (ugh), and my nephew Tyler’s birthday!! Happy Birthday, Tyler!
I then spent WAY too much time in the middle of the night getting things together for the Community Christmas Celebration! I didn’t finish until the wee hours of the morning.
Thursday came in a blur…
It's 2am, my kitchen is a chocolate explosion but there is one mostly perfect chocolate manger scene cooling down in my fridge. Now to clean up so I can go to bed and get back up in 3 hours if Collin doesn't wake me up sooner.
I didn’t manage to get much sleep.
One chocolate manger scene picture, as requested. :) (its actually made from dark chocolate, mint chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, butterscotch, and reeses pb.) Smells so yummy!
Had a busy day. Headed over to the church to drop off my manger scenes for display this weekend. This one is a bit fancier than I get some years.
After dropping off my stuff I ran over to my brother’s house to wish him a very HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY, ADAM!!!! He was there and it was fun to surprise him. I just love my brother so much. I’m so blessed to have him and his amazing family live so close to me!!
So then…I had to go to the dreaded eye doctor. I don’t want to wear glasses!!! Ugh.
Found out today that my left eye going from 20/20 to 20/80 in just over a year is due to an injury I received a few years ago (scratch that got infected) that scarred my cornea. While I'm glad it's not "old age" I'm frustrated that it didn't have to happen. Doc says no way to fix it and can't wear a contact either because of the nature of the injury. Only have one eye bad but still have to wear glasses. Anyone know where I can get a cool monocle?? lol
Ryan said that if I got a monocle I'd look so "eye-abolical" buahahahha!!
Sylvie picked out this awesome reindeer outfit for Collin to wear today.
Friday my morning started with these beautiful faces!
Saturday was CRAZY!!!! We rushed rushed rushed and got the girls to their Primary activity about Choosing the Right. We then RUSHED out to get ready for our little towns BIG parade!!
Getting the girls ready to be in their first parade!! They are super excited! Now I just need to figure out how to hold the baby, film, take pictures, and wave all at the same time!
Let's see...upon dropping off the girls with the others I realized I better go along (not enough supervisors and a sad Sylvie) so I had to ditch the stroller and the food. Traffic was so bad the bus couldn't get to the parade and since we were already late they dropped us off about a mile away. SO...we had to run...with a bunch of little kids...and a baby carrier and diaper bag filled with bottled water and my camera. (Thanks to Lisa J. for taking both from me along the way!) Made it just in time to drop the girls at the truck, run back to Lisa to get my baby and try to catch a picture of the girls (missed that while picking up the baby), ran and jumped in the truck with the carrier & diaper bag. Rode the rest of the way (too close to the girls to get good pictures) with Ella crying that everyone watching the parade was getting candy and she wasn't, were dropped off at the end of the parade and had to walk a good ways back to the buses. I need a nap...and we're watching the parade from the sidelines next year. BUT at least they can say they did it. Ugh.
Waiting for the bus to come and get us and take us to the parade!!
In the back of the parade truck!
Mommy needs a nap!! – in the mean time, Corben was off with my mom at the Museum of Art having a blast!!
Sunday was yet another crazy day…this is starting to be a trend…
5am Ryan had to be at the airport for a 2 week business trip to California. We were supposed to get Dade for the day so since we were already over there we picked him up around 6am. What a trooper! We had a nice day together and then had to take him home. The kids really miss him while he’s gone. So do I.

I have an idea for you to mull around concerning your eye. Why not try making an appointment at the Duke Eye Clinic --- the cornea department-- and have Dr. Kim look at your cornea. He did my cornea transplants. I just love him and truly trust him with my eyes. I did not trust my doctors in Raleigh for some reason. He is really on top of all innovations in eye care -- especially corneas and laser work. Just my idea.....Hilda
I loved all of this! I wish I could insert little comments along the way (by the end, sometimes I've forgotten the beginning, haha!)
Sylvie looks cute when she's sad, does she know that? I used to like crying in the mirror. :)
I hope things have slowed down for you since this post's week!
