5-8-2011 Week in Review…

Monday – not a single picture…

My house is a disaster.  Ryan decided that since the ceiling was already open  that he might as well replace all the plumbing in the upper level of the house.  I am now missing walls in the DR and BR and ceilings in the LR and DR.  So fun.  BUT at least we won’t have any more emergency leaks, right?? K.O.W. (Knock on Wood)  To get the kids out of the house I took them for ice cream & playtime at Chic-fil-a and then went to pick Dade up from his first day of Driver’s Ed!!  Now we’re waiting for the pizzas…I’m not cooking in a dirty kitchen….(not that I like to cook in a clean kitchen either but whatever…).

It’s hard to take a shower when there’s only hot water and hotter water…apparently you can put a shower knob back together upside down…

We went to Corben’s middle school open house where he could check out the over 200 electives and try to narrow it down to 12 (or 4 if he takes orchestra & a foreign language).  I let him get a t-shirt and bag.  This school is really amazing, I’m so excited for him!

Man I’m draggin’ lately….Ella was up all night due to the storm…

I did, however, manage to get Corben new shoes for under 5 bucks!! YIPPEE!! Name brand, too! Thank you, Kohl’s.

Took Corben to scouts while Dade went to the temple (go Dade!).  Had fun talking to a friend and watching 3 of mine have fun on their bikes/scooters.  The weather was great…wish I felt better!

5:30am – Get Dade up for Seminary

6:00am – Get Ryan up to take Dade to Seminary

6:30am – Wake up when Ryan get’s back from driving to Seminary

7:00am – Wake up and tell my self it’s time to get of bed due to all I have to do today

7:30am – Finally roll out of bed and rush around since I have to be out the door with 3 kids by 8.

8:00am – Kids fed & dressed & me almost ready to go

8:15am – Finally out the door on the way to the grocery store

8:30am – Run around grocery store getting things for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon that I forgot to get things for previously.  Also purchase enough snacks/lunch items to keep 2 girls busy and happy at the high school since we’ll be there most of the day.

8:45am – Get Corben to school early enough to get breakfast

9:00am – Get to the high school to gather items being dropped off by other parents for the luncheon being held at 11:15am.

9:30am – Help the PTSA Pres. set up for the luncheon so we can go to the Awards ceremony also being held this morning with plans to leave awards ceremony early to rush back and serve lunch and hold celebration.

9:31am – Ella starts telling me her stomach hurts…I’m sure she just needs to use the bathroom…

9:45am – Arrive in time for the awards ceremony and for the girls to see Dade

9:45am – 10:15am – Take Ella on several trips to the restroom and listen to her loudly announce she has a stomach ache over and over and over…

10:15am – Announce to the PTSA Pres. that despite the fact that no one else showed up to help us with the huge luncheon that I’m going to have to leave her and take my sick kid home…

10:20am – Ella screams all the way home that she won’t say she’s sick anymore and can we please stay!

10:45am – Arrive home and grab a bowl just in time.

Hectic…yes.  But do I feel kind of like Super Mom today??…YES!  I got everywhere ON TIME!!  That never happens…  AND, I would have been the rockin'est PTSA VP EVER if not for the sick child…I tried, right?  I’ll take what I can get…hopefully, I don’t get the flu!! :)

Ella cried on the couch most of the day…either because her stomach hurt or because she was afraid she’s going to be sick forever.

Dade got his new unicycle in the mail today.  He spent a good hour trying it out with some success.  I think it’s so cool that he thinks that’s cool!

Friday was hard for me.  I had a deep desire to have my house clean before Mother’s Day so I could REALLY relax but my kids were {literally} refusing to help me.  Add a very sick Ella and I’d have to say it wasn’t my favorite day…

I was up most of the night with Ella but she quieted down about 3ish is the morning.  Around 4am Sylvie woke up having thrown up in her bed…sigh.  Since it was Saturday and the boys were home I begged Dade to babysit the very sick girls while I ran to the grocery store and to get some items for my mom’s gift.  Poor Dade did a lot of cleaning up after the girls while I was gone.  What a trooper!  When I got back, Corben helped me put in mom’s Surprise Garden!  (I know it’s at my house but at least she won’t have to worry about watering it, she can just enjoy planting and growing it!)

My garden is growing so well right now!!

So is the grass!

Ryan actually worked an early shift to take me out to dinner BUT with sick kids and the chance I wouldn’t make it to church I was busy getting Primary Music stuff together and dealing with sick kids so we cancelled….sigh.  THEN…in the dark, Ryan found THIS snake laying in the yard!

Now, in the sunlight you can tell it’s a harmless Corn Snake BUT IN THE DARK is sure looked like a Copperhead!  It’s dead now.

Another sleepless night….YAWN!  Luckily (since it’s Mother’s Day) Ryan did all the cleaning of beds that happened AFTER midnight…lol.

PUBLIC APOLOGY:  To my mom…  For all the years you requested a clean house for Mother’s Day/B-day/Christmas.  For all the times you asked us to just pick a room and keep it clean for a week, as your gift.  For all the times you begged for us to just keep it clean for a DAY!  For the fact that we NEVER EVER EVER took you up on your gift request…I’M SORRY!!  I even considered offering to keep one room in your house clean for a week to make up for it but then I realized that I don’t live there anymore so I think Jason should do it…but he’d probably pick his room so it wouldn’t help…  Anyway, hope a garden at MY house makes up for it, especially since you don’t have to care for it, we’ll do it for you!!  The end.

The above is my guilt due to the fact that despite begging my children refuse to clean as a gift to me….sigh.  Like me and my siblings long ago…they just don’t understand.

Anyway, It’s Mother’s Day!  I ran out to church with the boys to lead the children in singing to their mom’s and to lead the music in Primary despite being exhausted.  The kids sang so well today!  I was proud of them.  After church, Corben and some of the other youth found a patch of honeysuckle and went to town!

While I was away Ryan managed to clean our entire house (something I haven’t been able to do in 5 months he did in 3 hours…go figure.  He even organized the medicine cabinet.  Anyway, I know it’s a gift but I can’t help but feel like a house keeping loser…sigh.  I had a great afternoon with the kids.  The girls gave me some new earrings, then the boys and Isat together watching baby’s laugh and time lapse movies on YouTube.  My mom stopped by (but stayed outside to get away from germs) and was very surprised by her new garden!  She’s going to get some more things to plant for next Wednesday.  (We already planted green peppers and cantaloupe for her.)  I got the girls outside for a bit.  As you can see, Sylvie’s still not herself but Ella was feeling much better for a bit.  She decided she wanted to pose for the camera Over and Over and Over….She claims to have taken a class on how to do it…. lol.
