(Sept 2014 – Decided to just go back and start posting a year and a half worth of unfinished blog drafts. Drafts are better than nothing, right?)
(Oct 2, 2013) – You may wonder why my blog is so behind. Truth is it’s been behind since the beginning of the year but there’s another reason it’s stalled even more. As you can see by the date I’m coming up to the most tragic moment of my entire life and I’m not sure how to write about that. I know you all know all about it but for some reason “blogging” about it seems like it could never give it justice and yet I can’t just skip over it. Yes, I’m saying “it”. That moment. I guess we’ll get through April & most of May and see where I go from there. How do you put into words what your heart can’t even express?
Well, here goes with the rest…mid-April had us smack in the middle of our Get Outside and Play challenge of getting at least 30 minutes outside every single day in April.
16 – First day back to school for Ella! The house is so quiet. – Ella taught the kids at school how to find 4 leaf clovers! – Adam saved a woman’s life on Friday! – Corben built fire outside that we enjoyed together. Sylvie helped cuddle & read to Logan when he was sad.
Ella caught a butterfly on her way out the door for school!
17 – “I had weird dreams. All I remember is that I was dressed up like a zombie (baby doll in my hair like Pebbles (from the Flintstones)), white men's shirt kind of with blood. I kept going up and down this alley and scaring these guys who were trying to do the same thing. By the 5th guy I was just laughing every time I saw one of them because I thought I was being so funny. Didn’t think I could have a funny zombie dream…”
Sylvie and I went to a local nursery and then checked out a nearby airport!
18 – Our 30 minutes outside consisted of learning 3 different ways to play hopscotch! (PS. Happy B-day Tammy!!) It’s also Purple Thursday at Ella’s school to promote Anti-bullying!

My sister posted a sweet post on FB today after I was finally able to send her a copy of the Gala Invite for a Texas Pro-Life group that used one of my photos of her son when he was 6 days old!
Many of you have seen the photos my sister took of our son J~ as a baby. Recently those photos have gotten her some great attention as a photographer and several have been published for various things. I'm so glad she's getting the attention she deserves for her work and so honored to be the subjects who got to help make it happen--we make a great team. (Ok--she could photograph dirt and make it look good but that is besides the point.) Here is J~ as the spokes-model in Texas!
A VERY long day. Up at 5:20, Corben to the bus, back home & exercise, shower, dress, makeup, Corben calls to say he’s sick, calls back says he feels better…okay…, Corben home for early release, drop off customer photos, clean out van, pick up Ella, take kids to mom’s, drive to Dade’s school, pick up 4 teenagers, drive 3 hours in worst traffic to dance on Wilmington Battleship, get there 2 hours late, ship over filled so they won’t let us on, patience and kindness gets us on before the dance is over, see lots of friends, drive 2 hours home in worst storm EVER – can’t see out of the windows and it’s dark, get teens back to school, drive hour home with Corben & pick up kids along the way, and all is well because we got TONS of free pizza from the dance! Snore…
20 It’s time for Prom!!
21 – Make 3D photos – Great day at church. Kids spent the day outside catching lizards and caterpillars.
22 – Went to the nursery with Ryan & Sylvie to get some more plants for our garden. :) Spent almost ALL day outside as a family! Meteor shower tonight!
Earth Day!! We cleaned up liter!

25 – supper at chik-fil-a, cut ella’s bangs
So...you know that video where the dad does the girl's ponytail with the vacuum hose? Sylvie didn't want me to do her hair yesterday so I thought it would be fun to try. I got the band tight around the vacuum hose (easy enough), turned on the vacuum and started sucking up her hair (worked GREAT!!), then I slid the band off the end of the hose an onto her hair (super easy)...and watched the band be instantly sucked into the vacuum...hmmmm. Plan B....where's the brush?? lol
26 VIDEO – Sylvie played at Mackenzie's, Jason drove over on his motorcycle to bring me a backpack for Corben. I just love hanging out with him. He’s amazing. I gave him cashews and he was happy. :) Corben off to a campout. Planted apple seed wintering in the fridge since last fall.
Happy Arbor Day! We planted seeds for an Apple Tree!
A little something about my babies…
Collin – he’s been taking a few steps lately when we force him to stand and let go. He really prefers to crawl or walk holding on to something. He’s such a good kid. So quiet and peaceful. He doesn’t complain much and he sleeps SO well. My favorite things are how his face lights up for daddy. Ryan taught him to head butt but he even does that softly. He loves to cuddle with me and be tickled. He loves all his food accept apples. I sure love this sweet boy!
Sylvie – she is really being such a big helper lately. I find her strikingly beautiful & she’s really taking on some grown up roles. She’s great with Collin, tries to keep Ella & Corben from fighting, loves to explain & teach gymnastics, and is often the one helping Ella when she’s upset. She’s loving listening to stories during the day and I know she’s going to love school in the fall.
Ella – she’s doing amazing in reading and writing in school. Her math is improving and she’s keeping up with her amazing calmness at school. Her eyes are getting more and more beautiful and I was noticing in a picture this week how her face is maturing and how truly beautiful she is. I love that her heart matches her beauty.
Corben – he’s been trying extra hard at school this year. He’s been reading his scriptures, writing in a journal & praying every night. He makes me proud. He’s decided to become an Eagle Scout and I’m really excited for him!
Dade – he’s made some amazing strides this year. School is tough but he’s pulled it off wonderfully. I couldn’t be prouder. He’s a hard worker and it shows.
27 – skipped ward activity to take girls to b-day party and to get some things done. Had a great gospel discussion during a visit with my mom.
Neighbors started a huge party. I had to ask them to cut down on the foul language since the girls were outside and they were very respectful and stopped. :)
Asked the party goers next door to cut out the loud and long profanity because I had children playing in the yard (who are now inside watching TV instead of enjoying the weather) and was quickly answered with a very respectful Yes Ma'am. I suddenly felt my age...and I'm okay with that!
Then the horrible music started. They say we ruined their party with our complaining but I shouldn’t have to hear explicit lyrics INSIDE my house all night long or even for a minute.
28 Fed the Elders – played with girls in the yard for a long time

30 – Corben orchestra & dr appt., 30 min outside, pizza, movie, bed.
Well, we did it!! 30 days outside for at least 30 minutes! We had SO much fun (even today when our only outside time was over an hour on a small sidewalk outside a dr's office). Lots of pictures and memories.

3 VIDEO – Dade MRI – Crayon incident – Corben off to Father/Son
Cut the girls laundry down to little more than a wash load after they couldn't manage to keep their room clean. Let them keep all their favorite clothes...
Proceeded to wash (and dry) said load tonight...with a rainbow crayon...sigh.
Pinterest has failed me!! All afternoon trying every trick I could find. 95% of laundry still ruined. Meh. That was the most EVIL crayon EVER.
Okay, so I decided I had nothing left to loose and I soaked it all ONE MORE TIME...and amazingly I can now say that over half the clothes are salvageable and most of those you can't tell anything happened (the stains are on the inside)!! YIPPEE!! I think I'm going to take a paper bag and iron to the rest and see if there's any hope but I'm feeling much much better. (They seriously were about to lose every pair of pants they owned.) - Thanks for the iron idea.
4 F/S campout w/Jason video – Dade SAT
5 lots of VIDEO – Someone noticed I’m losing weight :D
6 – Corben’s week started out GREAT! He’s pumped about school, his music, got his room organized, and is even going to read the Book of Mormon again! (Thanks, Jason, for what every the two of you talked about!)

I just LOVE the sound of a cello playing upstairs. I'm so blessed to have children that love music as much as I do.

9 – Collin started walking on his own.
10 – Spent the day with Grandma.
So Collin is officially a walker. He walked all around the living room tonight, stood, changed direction, the whole deal. Still can't stand without pulling up but he's getting there fast!
11 – Corben read the BoM in one night!! – Primary activity. Strawberry picking. Ryan picked up Dade.
12 Mother’s Day – Girls made me breakfast in bed. There were flowers and the girls picked out necklaces for me. Sylvie got me a silver locket and Ella got us FBB matching necklaces. I love it! She said she looked but couldn’t find Best Mom Friend Forever necklaces so she had to settle.
Just found this pic of me and my mom in a pile of family history pictures. I sure love her! Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!

Went to the park for family birthdays. Ate steak and played a great game of kickball. It was so great to have Dade home. He looked so sharp in his suit and even played a round of kickball!

While reading Charlotte's Web to Sylvie this morning, and just at the point where Wilbur has met Charlotte for the first time, Sylvie commented that she wished we had a spider around to catch bugs for us. At that very moment a little spider decided to drop down slowly from the ceiling right in front of us. Sylvie was thrilled. Me...not so much. (I tried to be a good mom and help her back out into the world but when she crawled up my flip flop and got near my hand...her story ended. Sorry little spider.)

Up bright and early this morning so Corben could sing the National Anthem at the Tour de Cure this morning with the Ligon Young Men's Honor Chorus. They did an AMAZING job!
19 – Ryan off for a week in California.
Worst time for a power outage? Middle of the worst most disgusting diaper change EVER...

Free Krispy Kreme? Yes, please. :)

So, I had a cool thing happen! I was contacted by a major publishing company last month to see if they could use the picture I took of my BIL and nephew as a Book Cover!! I ended up turning them down due to some licensing issues but it's still pretty exciting that someone liked my work (or how cute my family is) enough to want to put it on a book!
24 – CJ brought Dade’s stuff – Corben gone with mom for the weekend to Maryland.
LOVING LOVING LOVING the morning (well and afternoon, too, for that matter) skies lately. Having troubles keeping my eyes on the road because I'm staring at the God's big moving paintings in the sky. Glorious.
25 – Explained Memorial Day to Ella…she instantly started sobbing…for George Washington…she misses him. Ella (in a sobbing voice), “He was the Father of our Country!”
I know that for most of you today is Towel Day (Douglas Adams anyone? http://towelday.org/) but for ME...today's the day that Dade comes home!!!! Woo Hoo!!
--
Yay! Dade's Home! (and asleep...)
Ryan home.
