(It’s Not) Fairy Petition…

Wishing more fairies would pattern their livelihoods after the Tooth-fairy (who, oddly enough, is banned from our house until she can stop scaring small children who are only pretending to be asleep while she’s moving all around under their pillow)...

Instead I have:

The Pen/Pencil Fairy who removes every last stinkin' one of anything that writes even remotely well and is within reach and leaves lost Utility Bills stuffed into their place.

The Sock Fairy (doesn't just visit the dryer – and who does NOT leave change at our house like he does at others) and leaves me Dust galore (and not the sparkly kind) All. Over. The. House. – Seriously, reign it in, Dude.

The Fork Fairy (WHY??!! I am honestly baffled…) who has reduced two separate fancy utensil sets to one fork each and is slightly over abundant in his giving of Extra Pounds (not the $ kind - sigh) that seem to just show up on the scale.

The Undies Fairy (sorry Mom) who trades the 6 pairs of used undies my kids SWEAR they changed and put in the hamper with double the number of towels...all wet...and at the bottom of the bin...for days...(I had originally thought I had a towel fairy, but alas…)

The Cell Phone Fairy who doesn't exactly take your phone but who just moves it from the bottom of your bag or that outside zippered pocket (then puts it in a totally random location like the fridge, sock drawer, back pocket, right where you left it plugged into the wall, etc.) and leaves some sort of old, out of the wrapper, sticky candy/gum thing in it's place....every single time...

And the worst of all?? - The Change Fairy who steals every last penny and nickel from the change spot in the car and beneath the seat (Sorry, Son, I just knew I had enough in here for your lunch today…how about this old Starburst I found in the bottom of my bag where I thought I left my cell phone? – They saved my life once, ya know.) and replaces them lovingly with old milky sippy cups. (He really loves to hide them well.) I mean, seriously, how do I get THAT one reversed!

Wondering if there's a (It’s not Fair-y) petition I could sign somewhere...

9-16-2012 Week in Review…

Let’s see if I can remember back this far…

Monday morning it was time to go see if we could find THE BEAD. Of course, as we were getting ready, Sylvie mentioned that she thought she swallowed something. There was no way to know for sure so we still had to go. No worries, the entire procedure was actually a great experience for Sylvie. They make surgeries at the local children’s hospital a little too fun.

First there was the waiting area with a play room, games, and her own TV. They they gave her markers so she could write on her sheets!!

Then she got some “Princess Juice” (to calm the nerves) and then they gave her stickers to put on her mask and filled the inside with yummy scented chapstick.  Someone gave us the best compliment. She came over and when Collin smiled at her she said that it was a sure sign that he was very loved. :)

Everything went quickly (4 minutes). They didn’t need to give her an IV or a breathing tube. Sure enough the bead had been swallowed this morning.  I am so grateful for all the prayers.  When Sylvie woke up they gave her a popsicle, apple juice and a Disney princess coloring kit. She smiled and said, “Why’s this so much fun?!”  (Hopefully not so fun we do it again anytime soon!)

Ryan got home Tuesday from his trip down river. I’ll post a blog about that soon, too! (I hope)  Sylvie went over to spend the night with her cousins so Ryan could go with me to the hospital tomorrow. I love our family. :)

Wednesday was surgery for me.  We got to the hospital bright and early.  Surgery was no big deal. As you can see from the pictures by Ryan, Collin took to his new time away from mommy with no problems. He has to take a bottle for 2 or 3 days but he didn’t argue about that either!

My wonderful congregation stepped in and had supper ready for us that evening and Ryan was able to take the girls to gymnastics.  I expect to be camped out on the couch for a few days.

Ryan surprised me by getting an extra day off of work on Thursday. I sure needed the help! Just after I took this photo, I had 9 people check on me in a 20 minute time period. Feeling so blessed.

Friday my good friend, Mary Ann, came over so I could shower and rest.

Life is good! I'm healing well from hernia surgery and have been so blessed by everyone's love and support. Meals, babysitting, feeding my baby, coming over and watching him so I could take a shower and nap, tons of calls to check on me. I am so fully blessed and feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.

This was Corben at school that day. You can just see him behind the neck of the kid in the middle. lol

Saturday Corben took up the task of caring for me and everyone else…

Loving listening to Corben sing to Collin while he changes his diaper. Big brothers are awesome.

All the love got Collin all wound up and he rolled over!!!  It was a great night. Ella also had dad help her get her first bottom tooth out. Guess the tooth fairy is coming tonight!

Sunday…

So, apparently the Tooth Fairy was out on Medical Leave and so she had her trusted assistant come get Ella’s tooth.  Well, it seems that the trusted assistant was a little rusty on things and not only couldn’t find Ella’s tooth but forgot to bring the Tooth Fairy’s signature gold dollars and in frustration left a regular Human Dollar and gave up on finding the teeny tiny tooth.  When Ella awoke she was very confused. Not only was her tooth still there but a regular dollar was stuffed under her pillow. She and Sylvie decided it must be a prank by Corben. Either that or the Tooth Fairy was off her rocker. So she wrote the Tooth Fairy a note…

Dear Tooth Fairy, You forgot my tooth last night. Did you give me the dollar? I think you did. Did you (know) my tooth came out yesterday?

Guess the Tooth Fairy doesn’t need to worry about job security!! lol  (at least her assistant tried…)

Here’s the girls on their bikes. You see we got Sylvie a new bigger bike since her birthday bike was too teeny tiny.

Wednesday –

Ella’s tooth finally came out!!  She was showing Ryan how it could flip forward and he hit her elbow while she had her hand on her tooth. The tooth went flying and she was SUPER excited.

Thursday - Dade was at Youth Conference all day.  We escaped to my SIL’s pool for a bit. I sure needed the fresh air!  Sylvie had awesome hair coming out of the pool that she didn’t want me to get a pic of. lol

Friday, Dade had LOTS to do.  He started his new job working for a dry cleaning company.  He also had a social at his new school.  We were late getting there and had to drop off his siblings at my mom’s on the way.  She knew he’d wanted a haircut today (that I didn’t have time to do) so when we pulled up she had the chair and hair cutting stuff out so he could get a 2 minute trim before we headed out.  I love my mom!  Dade went straight from the social to a youth dance.  It was a LONG day!!

Sylvie's fish "Swallow" has passed...it's her first dealing with death. She's convinced it was cancer. Sweet Ella, upon realizing that her fish had lived, turned to her sobbing sister and told her she could have "Guppy" as her fish and even change her name. She patted her back and got her tissues. I'm so grateful that they have each other to get through the tough times!

Saturday – Dade had his last day of Youth Conference.  Corben spent the night with Fama and they spent the evening and all Saturday experimenting with GLUTEN!! (shudder)

Sunday I finally made it to church!!  Afterwards we had the Elders over for supper.  Ryan shared with them his love of veggie art!

Check out Ella’s cute Primary class. Her teacher is moving and took this picture (that I shamelessly stole…thanks Lindsay!)

Great news! At church today we found out about another LDS youth attending the same school as Dade! We have contact info and can’t wait to chat. I have to say this is very comforting to me.
